Hey! there. Im about to be 16 this october and being a comic artist / mangaka is been my career dream. Like everyone here in this forum, We all love anime and mangas and im no different. I've been drawing since a very young age. I grew up with anime and manga. I wish to contribute someday when i finish high school, but for now, i still got 2 years left of high school. Anyways, aside from all the introduction i just want to hear people's thoughts about my current work. Bad or good, ill take any comments / criticism. I have no Title on my story yet, also its long from finish. I just want to see if people would take my Art. If i see that many people agree, i would continue on this story, but for now im just conducting a simple Benchmark standards.

Probably belongs in the Manga section of the forums, but I guess the general section gets more attention when it comes to the amount of views you may receive.
Can't say much considering I'm no manga artist or anything, but it looks like there is potential. IMO artwork needs a bit more work though. Less edgy and more round.. If you get what I am trying to say. |

To be loved is a gift. To love another is life.

to be honest, the drawing isn't really catch my attention. maybe it's because I like realistic or semi-realist manga more :D
I wanna see more smoother graphic in your comic. the inking isn't bad. the column arrangement is pretty good. but you can make it more to the edge so that the other side will look more spacious. but if you have a good story, there will definitely want to read your comic. since you're young, you still have a long way to improve your drawing skill. so, don't give up and keep trying (: I wanna be a comic artist too x] |

I'll keep that in mind, also if watched some of his vids. And the eyes and the mouth are simplified. I might improve on them later on, but i like keeping things simple. Anyways it wouldn't hurt to make em sparkle more like anime/manga like u say. Keepin that in mind. Also to be honest, Im no big fan of Big Sparkling Eyes like normal Japanese art would have, so i keep my eyes like that krystabellum wrote: to be honest, the drawing isn't really catch my attention. maybe it's because I like realistic or semi-realist manga more :D I wanna see more smoother graphic in your comic. the inking isn't bad. the column arrangement is pretty good. but you can make it more to the edge so that the other side will look more spacious. but if you have a good story, there will definitely want to read your comic. since you're young, you still have a long way to improve your drawing skill. so, don't give up and keep trying (: I wanna be a comic artist too x] Yeah... im hoping to improve more during my 2 years of high school left. By the time i graduate... I should be better... Because every time i draw something, It always comes out better than the last. I hope that this Slope Continues!!! |

I think the first thing that comes to mind is the text. The font sizes seem a bit inconsistent as well as the speech bubbles themselves. For some reason the thought bubbles you have in the first 2 panels seems..off.
The art itself isn't too bad but it definitely needs a bit of work. But that will definitely come with time and practice so don't worry too much. Heck, I wish I could draw half as well myself. When it comes to writing or coming up with ideas I have no problems but I can't draw at all. I think it is great that you are putting yourself out there and accepting criticism(and properly). That's already a huge step that a lot of people would never even think about doing due to fear of hearing something negative about their work. Also, the most important thing is that you are enjoying yourself and you have a goal. Good luck! |

There is really not such a thing as "manga-ish" eyes or lips. Perhaps a "Shonen Jump" or a "Shojo Beat" look would be a better way to describe what you are referring to. There is such an tremendous range of looks and styles within manga that you cannot say something has to look a certain way to be manga. I prefer things that do not have the generic "Shonen Jump" look to them. I would rather see something with a unique or interesting style. My advice would be to develop you own style and voice. Take lots of traditional art and literature classes to help develop your technique. Widen your horizons and look at other types of art and illustrations. Also read a lot, and not just manga or comics but novels as well. That will also help you learn what is needed to tell a good story. Keep up the good work... You should definitely keep putting stuff out there for others to see and comment on. Maybe start a blog to post your artwork and stories. Good luck! |

Don't take any offense to the following, this is just my honest opinion and feedback. I mean no offense.
I can't say I'm impressed. So honestly, no, I don't think this is an acceptable manga page. The paneling is nice. but everything else is iffy at best. The anatomy could use much work. and the coloring is way to blocky. For now, I'd suggest sticking to simply pencil and paper. If you can't do it on paper, digitals not going to turn out any better. |
