I liked it.
But the queen's face made me laugh.
She looked pretty bored.

Loved it when James Bond and the corgis came in though.

FUK YEAH. Gifs.

I doubt any country will ever match the opening ceremony from Beijing. I doubt anyone will ever even spend the amount of money they did on it either.

You get what you pay for really...

People were already bitching about how much it cost, theres no pleasing everyone. Spend too much on it and people complain, spend too little and people complain it's rubbish...

Personally i didn't like it. The music was bad (Dizzee Rascal?? REALLY??) way too much focus on the NHS (did anyone outside of Britain even understand anything that happened?) and everything inbetween was pretty lame to me.

Best part was the fireworks and watching the teams enter.

It started off really slow, although I think it was because I really wasn't into watching the history of the country unfolding before my eyes. I liked the story time (Mary Poppins flying in) with the kids although those large 'toys' and villains kinda creeped me out. I actually enjoyed it towards the end.

Best part though was definitely the intros of the various countries, and the outfits they wore (c'mon, was it only me who thought that the Estonian clothes made them look like the Smirnoff absolute bottle?). And the light 'birds' (men on bikes) and the fireworks were fantastic!

And the absolute best part?!!! James Bond picking up the Queen in the helicopter and her "parachuting" into the stadium!

Best part I saw was the Mr. Bean part. I didn't watch much at all other than that really. The part with the teenagers dancing to the music from the 50's onwards was confusing and kinda weird. I think I missed something because the chick apparently left her phone behind, so the guy calls her and is like, hey I found our phone, we should meet up at 70's. Or something like that.

I only enjoyed Mr. Bean, the Nazi guy when Germany came in, and when they played Eclipse by Pink Floyd. Other than that. Meh.

Lmafo! which Nazi guy lol? I got bored watching the Nations march lol.

When Germany came out someone caught a fan doing the 'Heil Hitler!' pose and took a pic.

Er we're in a recession here.

Anyway I quite enjoyed it. Danny Boyle and Underworld picked a great selection of music.

So are a lot of countries in this world, I don't appreciate how you conveniently quoted the last part of my post and deleted everything else I said before it. I had nothing against the opening ceremonies, yes I said it was a bit bland but it was definitely well thought out and well done.

but after the .gifs I saw on tumblr.... x.x goodness I really want to watch the London Olympics.

There were ref. to James Bond/Mr. Bean/Doctor Who/Harry Potter/Peter Pan/Mary Poppins/Hunger Games/Universal Health Care(lol)

Purely London/British.

I'm sorry, but I didn't like it much. I liked the beginning part where they were showing the Industrial Revolution and the "forging" of the Olympic rings. I would've loved to see more of UK's old history. Instead, hey! The Beatles! Oh hey look! David Bowie! Oh look! James Bond! You like Harry Potter right? Mary Poppins! Yeah, we get it, they all came from the UK.

Funny thing is, I like most things mentioned above. It's just that yes, your impact in pop culture is big. We get it. And what was up with the kids in hospital beds segment? You call that a tribute to the sick children? By having the nurses and kid actors jump around like nothing's wrong? I don't know, I feel like it sent the wrong message. But yeah, I didn't enjoy a lot of it. I'm not by any means trying to offend anybody from the UK, it's just that, it could've been handled a lot better. What do I know though?

It did have some great, funny moments though. Mr. Bean putting on a comedic show with Chariots of Fire was awesome, as well as the Queen and James bond segment. That Olympic cauldron design is also worth mentioning. It looks really cool, I must say.

I find the commercials more interesting than the opening ceremony.
