Pokemon, but I wasn't aware it was an anime, and therefore I don't really consider it my first.

It was Prince of Tennis because that's what my cousin was watching at the time. The first that I found on my own was Vampire Knight.

While not anime in a traditional sense, it was Voltron for me. As a 4/5 yr old robot lions were totally awesome, I had the toys and everything

Like a lot of others, I started watching anime before I even knew what anime was (Pokemon, Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Toonami shows, etc.). But after becoming familiar with things like subbed, dubbed, uncut, and all that, the show that made me check out "anime" was Ah! My Goddess, the OVA.

There are two ways to answer this question for me; the earliest anime I watched without realizing it, and the one that sparked my current and no-end-in-sight love of anime.

The earliest anime I remember watching was Astro Boy. Of course, I didn't realize it was anime until later on. I also recall watching Speed Racer from time to time. Haha! Oh yes, and I can't forget to mention Hello Kitty and Keropi!

Samurai Pizza Cats was a confusing one since it was so heavily edited that I really didn't know it was anime until much later!

I would have to say that Sailor Moon was the first anime I watched religiously that made me aware of this wonderful medium in a limited sense. I knew it was different from the other cartoons on t.v. and it came from Japan, but I didn't realize how many of these types of shows there really were. Pokemon, Digimon, Metabots, Cardcaptors, and Escaflowne of course just helped fuel the fire.

I took a break from watching anything anime related in my first few years of high school until a friend of mine told me about a movie she watched on t.v. about "a bunch of guys in space fighting in big robot machines and some kind of power struggle with some little girl."

Turns out that movie was the Gundam Wing one; Endless Waltz. So we began to watch the series the next day as it so happened that the first episode was airing and that brought to life the dormant anime lover in my soul.

I credit Gundam Wing as being the series that really made me realize how much I love anime and all related media. It will always hold a special place in my heart. <3
