This is pretty cool, I think. At least I can now relax in the lounge and watch an episode instead using my computer or portable device. Kudos to the developers

At least they committed to HD within a specific time frame in both the initial message here and the news article. I don't recall seeing them do that with any of the other apps. (The best other apps was a response in the forum indicating giving an expected fuzzy time frame that then passed, or simply an indication it was being worked on, with no indication of when it could be expected).

tl;dr version: It appears PS3 owners will be the first to get a app with HD (that isn't simply re-using the Flash stream).

Netflix has been providing 1080p streams on the PS3 since late 2010:

There isn't any rocket science to streaming 1080p. It simply requires sufficient bandwidth and proper hardware, both of which were more rare in the previous years.

When the "coming soon" announcement for the PS3 app was made last month, they also stated a Vita app would be coming later this year.

I managed to watch part of an episode of Chihayafuru before it started choking up on me. Trying to watch Kokoro Connect again just made the whole application crash.

Didn't work so well for me. There were a few issues with the video locking and no subs being displayed in Naruto, Great idea once the kinks are worked out.

Nice. Comparing the pictures of the new PS3 app with the Boxee Box app I notice two things. Our lack of the ability to Search and skip from First to Last (and vice versa) while browsing shows. Will we be getting these features any time soon?

Yeah, there are certain problems I've experienced so far, like: video freezing for a couple seconds every other minute or so; subtitles becoming un-synced with the video; application quitting by itself for some reason.

However, I am very pleased that the app finally got rolled out, and once the major problems become fixed it'll most likely become my most used app next to netflix.
