From the first message in this topic:

Currently the Crunchyroll PS3 app is available in the US and Canada PlayStation Network. We are working on bringing it to other countries.

Was there an update to fix any of the bugs? I tried watching Campione the 1st day the app came out but it was basically unwatchable.

EDIT: Nevermind. Just read the support thread. I'm gonna try it out again now and see how it is.

I can download the app but can't get it to work, it just gives me this error when I try and run it:

"To access this content you must activate this system.
Sign in with the account that was used to purchase this content, select [system activation] under
[Playstation network] > [account management] , and then activate this system.

And I have no idea what it's asking me to do. Hulu and Netflix never asked, and I'm definitely signed into the playstation network so I'm completely confused. I mean I know I can go to 'playstation network, account management' and all that to activate 'video' or 'game' content but doing that just gives you an 'activating' message and then it ends and the app still won't run.

I have the exact same problem. Does anyone have a fix for this?

  • Go to the "Playsation Network" on your PS3
  • Select "Account Management"
  • Select "System Activation"
  • Select "PS3 System"
  • Select "Video"
  • Select "Deactivate System"
  • Select "PS3 System"
  • Select "Video"
  • Select "Activate System"

I believe this should resolve the issue.

Followed instructions. Still have the same error. Also tried deleting crunchy roll and re-downloading. If I use triangle to access the menu for the crunchyroll app, it says under information that the version is 1.00. I believe there is a 1.01 patch that is supposed to be applied when you launch the app however since the app doesn't really "launch" the update doesn't happen. Could this be part of the problem?

i just re suscribed to crunchyroll because watching anime with only a ps3 became very difficult ...... to only deal with this web site still crashing the ps 3 ..... i was watching anime last night with crunchyroll APP ... then this morning no animes will start ..... and so far when i watch a anime via the app it skips the audio gets ahead of the anime big time ... it speed bursts to catch up making me miss the subs ....... *& now im reading posts how CR has white out anime ...... why play the anime if your just going to censor it ??? starting to think crunchyroll is a waist of my time & money

Crunchyroll doesn't censor any anime. What you see is the same thing that persons in Japan watching on a broadcast station (and not a paid premium channel like AT-X) see.

Your problem is your account may be linked to too many PS3's already. You'll need to go to the PSN site, log onto your account, go to device management, and deactivate all ps3's then follow the steps above again.

Generally when it may take years or never happen, Crunchyroll doesn't say "working on it", they say something like "We're considering that", or "we are exploring that option" or something like that.

So "working on it" probably means more like sometime in the last three months of this year or the first three months of next year for the first geographic expansion.

Note that they do not say they are "working on" global access, so there is no indication how far they will end up being able to go. UK/Ireland seems like almost certain, Northern Europe and Latin America would obviously be high priorities ~ for Latin America, especially since they have highlighted multiple language subtitle selection as a feature they are targeting for their wider geographic distribution ~ but how far beyond that they may be able to go is anyone's guess.
