I have the same issues. I was stoked to find CR on PS3 but bummed how it lags and you miss conversations. The rewind and fast forward definitely get out of sync. I hope they fix these issues soon.

It has been 2 days since the last time the anime I was watching had any lag to it. the video still is not smooth at spots but the lag
appears to be worked out. Good Job CR just a little more on the stream to make the video run smoother.

I think the issue on the PS3 is the wireless. I need to run a super long ethernet cable to confirm my theory on this, because it's a bit far from the router.

I just upgraded my internet today at home from 35 Mbps to 75 Mbps. I'm actually getting 82-85+ Mbps from all of my connections, except one, and that is the PS3.

The PS3 will not connect at more than 8 or 9 Mbps, and will only give me 2-3 Mbps upload speeds. When I put a laptop on top of the PS3, it gets between 55-60 Mbps, and around 29-33 Mbps upload speeds. With my iPhone 4S, I get ~ 33-35 Mbps download speeds and ~ 30 Mbps upload speeds. I am thinking the PS3 Slim has a very very inferior wireless card inside it. I want to plug it directly into the network to see if it can take advantage of the high speeds if wired.

My take is that the wireless card in the PS3 is too weak for continuous streaming. I want to see if, when wired, will it actually run smoother, or is the issue with Crunchyroll. My theory right now lies with the wireless hardware within the PS3.

That's my connection from the laptop sitting next to the PS3 this evening... The PS3 is showing that it's only connected at 2.3 Mbps download speeds. That's bullshit. For some piece of hardware that everyone got all hot and bothered over, it's streams far worse than my 4.5 year old Asus netbook.

Actually this makes alot of sense however what model of the ps3 are you using?? Is it fat or slim with wifi built in because different models could be using different wireless cards. I personally own a ps3 fat 20 gig model that does not have built in wifi and a 120 gig slim line model with wifi built in. I've done some test myself by using a Ethernet cable. It seems to run much faster on the 20 gig fat model hooked up directly with the Ethernet than my 120 gig model with wifi built in however my speeds are nowhere good as yours. Keep in mind I did this before my membership ran out, so I wonder what they could do to fix it..

On a side note the you-tube app was released for the ps3 recently as well and well it seems to run a bit better but google also has the money/backing to make a higher end app.

I mean ... a CR anime yearly membership is a little more expensive than owning a new game for the PS3 and it provides anime for THE WHOLE YEAR. Owning the series that I have watched on here would cost me about 10X that if it's even available to buy.
They fixed the audio/video sync problems in under 2 weeks. Just give it some time. Not every app that comes out is perfect right out the gate.

Except those new games you buy actually work. It seems rather silly to play the money comparison game when the product doesn't even work in the first place. I'd rather own a DVD and watch a show then pay money for a subscription to a service that crashes and damages my PS3. They fixed some navigational issues in "under 2 weeks," the syncing issues are still present. And they completely ignored the majority of the problems listed in this topic and other topics pertaining to the PS3 app (i.e., the app's incessant crashing). Give it time, you suggest? I gave them my credit card information, and now my 30 day trial (beta) is almost up. I'm not giving them more time. Not every app is perfect at launch, but the sure as heck are playable. If Crunchyroll didn't have such blind praise and justification, they would actually have a working app by now.

Actually there are a lot of problems with games at launch including MMO's - that's why there are patches so that argument is down. Not to mention patches for console games fixing glitches all the time.

You can still watch it on the computer, Roku Box, Iphone, Android ect ect ect - so sorry if this one platform had some issues at launch for you - again, you can watch it on your computer which is obviously working.

The app has never crashed for me - I'm guessing your PS3 is faulty.

Blind praise? You mean how in the olden days I'd have to buy DVD's just on reviews and nothing else and with crunchyroll, before I bought my anime subscription, I could watch those for free LEGALLY with better quality video than illegal streaming sites? Or are you talking about the complete lack of buffering and high quality video instantly any-time I want?

Yeah, the posts here reek of spoiled people. If it doesn't get fixed in a couple months then I will join the band-wagon of harsh complaints but I can wait.

Part of the fix was the patch, the other was re-encoding the videos again. SKET Dance is one show CR has confirmed has had all episodes re-encoded. If you try one of those and don't notice those same problems, you can look forward to the problem going away as time goes on.

Those speeds would be more than enough for 480p video from CR, provided they are reasonably consistent (i.e., not the equivalent of someone in a car flooring the gas and then letting off completely, then repeating).

I run on a mere 5Mbps DSL connection, and seem to have fewer issues with my devices (PC and Roku) than some people running on connections several times faster than that. I should note that all of my stationary devices are connected via Ethernet.

It should also be noted that the Samsung TV app (another recent launch) seems to be working rather well.

Yeah I agree - I decided to take the speed test as well and this is what I got. I hook up to the internet wirelessly from this computer.
EDIT - decided to black some things out since I am a paranoid person

I can stream 1080p with no buffering on the site with my computer. 8 or 9mbs for 480p seems like it would be fine.

Thanks for the tip on the Sket Dance thing - I'll check it out and tell you the result.

seemed to work perfectly - no skipping what-so-ever.
Also, the search function was perfect. Still surprised how user friendly this program is.

The last time I measured a 720p stream to the web browser, the average data rate came out to 1.555Mbps. Even if they've bumped up the bitrate since then or just for the PS3, I doubt the 480p stream is above that.

I've only done a bit of testing with 1080p (my old HDTV is only 720p so I don't normally view it), but it seemed to work on my 5Mbps connection. The nice thing about my DSL connection is that it may not be that fast (relative to most cable connections), but it is very reliable and consistent.
