Hrm, I was excited to receive an email announcing the app...but, where do I find it for download on the PS3? I'm not seeing it under TV/Video Services or What's New or any other sections...?

EDIT: Nevermind, my wife is a genius and just found it!

I'm beginning to think this app was released way too early crashed three times now. I even tried deleting the app and reinstalling everything to see if that fixed anything but to no avail. At this rate that free month is going to run out without being able to watch anything on it. The update barely did anything sadly.

I am using PS3 slim. Wired connection through my router (was wifi, but no difference either way). I still have exactly the same problems I had before the patch. The app crashes my PS3. Video will play, but is choppy, with pauses and skips. The videos are often grainy, but improves if I quit and restart. I might be able to watch 1-2 full episodes, but the choppy video is so far not worth the headaches. I signed up with crunchyroll because of the PS3 app. Please let us know if this will improve before my trial membership expires so that I can decide if this service is worth keeping. It seems like great fun and I hope it works out. Thank you.

First time user of CrunchyRoll App on PS3, and it's a damn mess. There's no other way to describe it.
First release had the following bugs:

1. App freezes PS3 at random times. Soft/Hard reset must be done.
2. Shows stop playing completely & locks up the App.
3. Shows de-synch with voices/subtitles constantly.
4. Shows will at totally random times get graphic blurs for the whole image.

Now with the patch everything above is still occuring plus now:
5. Shows are now only shown in 480X260 resolution, and it STILL locks up!

I even called Sony to report this, as this is happening to all my friends and myself. Sony refuses to remove this App from the store,
as they said they are waiting on you guys to patch it up. So now it's patched up and it's WORSE then it was before.
How in the world did this pass Sony's Q&A process, & why was it released in such a broken state, TWICE NOW?! Clearly this was not ready yet in it's current or even patched form.

Not only has my system hard locked mutliple times becase of this buggy App, but I've also recieved messages of hard drive corruption.
I'm going to report this yet again to Sony and demand they do something about this broken mess. And thanks for the awesome first impression CrunchyRoll! I'll not be doing any business with you guys due to this self disaster you've brought onto yourselfs.

SirSpirituous I dont think you need to be quite so harsh. Its obvious to me that the folks at Crunchyroll are working really hard to get things working correctly. We dont know the ins and outs of creating an app on the Playstation 3, and honestly, I doubt these guys have anywhere near the staff of say a Netflix does. I dont think they intentionally put something out to cause us headaches, but when things launch, sometimes there are bugs and other issues that make things go haywire. I understand your frustration, I am mostly frustrated because the app has great potential and like you, system lock ups are def not a good for business. I am on my 30 day trial as well, but I am sure Crunchyroll will make it right with us early adopters of the app. Give em a chance is all I am saying, they are trying from everything I can tell.

Applied the patch and went to watch an episode of Naruto. There was even more skipping than before the patch, which makes it very difficult to follow plot when the audio keeps going but the video freezes and lines of subtitles don't get carried over. Maybe restarting my PS3 will help, but for now it's still a skipping/buffering issue

Harsh? What's harsh is having to deal with a clearly unstable & broken product that does not work properly & causes damage to my system.
THAT'S Harsh. I have every right to express my frustration, since this is a paid service.

If the App was not ready for release, then it should have been withheld until it was as bug free as possible.
I'm a patient guy, but dealing with this mess for over a week now has been enough for me.
If another service had issues like this when you signed up, you wouldn't stay subscribed either.

I'm sure once they fix their issues, it will be a great service. But once you ruin a first impression ilike this, it's very hard to recover from that.

Yeah they fix things as fast as they can if things go wrong which isn't often, when I was using the app it does not really have any problems except for the lag occasionally so this kinda confuses me, but is understandable since there would be a lot of things that can go wrong. This company isn't Netflix or Hulu it's not as big as them but they are talented. It works awesome on the website, my android phone, and my Roku. I guess I've been with them for three years as a premium member most of that time, long enough that I admit I'm a little bit of a fan boy. But if you feel that strongly about the service that's your prerogative. All I can say is be patient, can't really say anything else about it.

I never said they did. The service works fine on other systems, just not PS3.
Netflix,Hulu-Plus, and other App's all work fine. Crunchyroll is the only one with major problems.
Clearly it's a coding issue, & if I was to speculate I would say it's a problem directly tied to how the
Application is accessing memory on the PS3.

I say this because whenever the App is running slow or about to crash, it's always related to the odd way
the PS3 has it's memory split between the cpu & gpu. And a telling sign of this, is the XMB runs super slow.
But it's not my job to find the issues with the app, so I can only speculate.

Either way it needs to be patched yet again. And probably a few times more after that. It should never have
been released in such a state. How it got past Sony's Q&A team is beyond me.

One of the problems I have with this service outside of there being bugs is the fact that there isn't a resume option. If I close out of something (or it crashes as it has been) it would be nice to resume where I left off. I have to skip ahead with the bad fast-forward feature, hope it's the area, and then it lags when I do and I have to place it just right to before when it crashed/where I left off.

Who's at fault for the premature release, really? Is it the company that tries to keep customers coming back, or the rabid fans that put the pressure on to release it? Cut them some slack, man.

Using demand as an excuse for a faulty product is really just shifting the blame. I mean, I'm a new user and have it on PS3 exclusively, but to be honest it's a 'love-hate' relationship. There are so many good shows. I feel good about supporting the industry that has always entertained me and not stealing shows like those irresponsible thieves who run the streaming sites. Then again, the quality changes several tones per video. Fast forwarding or rewinding causes major lag and tears to the animation, it'll have 'hiccups' for up to ten seconds where I have no clue what is going on. I'm going to be honest and say I would not pay for this service as it stands. I have the free subscription, but if problems are not solved, I do not feel comfortable using this app. I love what Crunchyroll stands for and what the service entails. I do not care for how the product is delivered. As first impressions go, I am not sold until serious issues are solved.
