The majority of the videos are only available to Premium Members through the PS3 app. Without membership, you can only "watch the first episode of every simulcast show to try it out".
http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-771249/crunchyroll-is-on-ps3-now

I do not know if or when the app will be available for non-premium users as that has not been decided as far as I know.

Are you "sure" about that Basou? I ask ONLY because I had it and watched it before I had a 48 hour premium membership pass. Of course, I could be wrong since I also watch it through my web TV as well and could be mixing the two up. If the PS3 only works for premium members, can I ask if that will be change in the future? Just because since I can obviously watch my anime through Crunchy from both my webTV and here of course for free.

My understanding (I don't have a PS3 myself to test) is that you can download and install the app as a free member, but you will only have access to the first episode of each series.

I would take this as an indication that CR has no plans to make full series available to free users via the PS3 in the foreseeable future.

They are not alone in this. Funimation only offers 2-4 episodes of any series (even the same ones where all are available on their website to free users) to free users of their Roku app. Hulu, of course, goes the farthest, with their "no pay, no viewing with an app" policy, and even blocking web browsers on devices that aren't personal computers.

I have a bit of a feature request; I was prepared to make a completely new topic for it, but this thread seems ideal:

Frequently while watching videos, I pick up and put down my PS3 controller, be it to pause, rewind or fast forward, there are times were picking it up is unavoidable; however, when placing the controller back down, frequently the controllers bumpers get pressed, skipping to different timeframes, or at times to completely different episodes while attempting to watch.

Would it be possible to request that certain buttons (or a menu option) be put in place to easily lock/unlock those controls?

App isn't working for me again. I've just kind of given up. A couple times its worked beautifully in the past week but the majority of the time it doesn't. My mom watched a movie with me and my husband watches SAO with me. We all just sit huddled in front of the 15 inch laptop screen. Its irritating but what choice do I have? I want to watch certain anime and shows. Crunchyroll is the easiest way plus I like the idea of supporting the industry but it all leaves a rather sour taste in my mouth. I just hope the app stabilizes soon.

Recent Issue:

Just upgraded from a Netgear G Router to a Netgear N Router, and now I cannot get shows to load. Before upgrading the router, the app was working in an acceptable manner, it would stream fine, and crash only once in a while.

My setup is:

- PS3 Slim 120GB
- Wired (via Powerline kit) Comcast High Speed.
- According to the speed test on GeekSquad.com, my PS3 is pulling in 20Mbps download, and 3.5Mbps upload.

As others have reported, my screen turns black as if the show is trying to load, but nothing happens, it just sits there forever. I can hit back and return to my queue, but nothing plays anymore.

Loving the app so far. Everyone once in awhile a new video will have audio/video sync issues and an occasional freeze after rewinding/FFWD or loading a new video but a reboot helps.

Currently though I am watching Steel Angel Kurumi and I am lucky if I can load two new videos in a row without it freezing. Sometimes I have do a cold start twice in a row just to get a video going in this series. Wasn't nearly as bad for the other 4 I watched. It seems to happen when using R1 to skip ahead as well as just letting the video play out and waiting for the next video to load.

I have an issue with the PS3 version. I saw the YuriYuri anime on CR but it showed Season 2 Episode 1 as the starting episode so sure enough I went to browse the rest of the videos and it has locked up my PS3 when I scroll to the PV preview episode... just scrolling to it locks it up. I have 2 ps3s, phat and slim and it happens on both. Also after watching a few episodes I notice that my PS3 will exit to the XMB once in a while (maybe a memory leak issue?) Thanks, loving the service so far!

I've watched a few episodes on my PS3 Slim. While the buttons are decent enough for watching anime. Having some sort of customizable settings would be rather neat. A feature I wouldn't mind would be something along the lines of using the R3, click once to activate the feature and then rotate it in circles left or right for some fast tracking. A full rotation could be a minute or two. It'd mainly work as an alternate to the current fast forward/rewind.

It could have been suggested already, but I haven't been keeping up much with the current feedback for the PS3 app. A little too much reading to see all the previous posts.

So browsing through episodes 120-130 of Gintama freezes my PS3 and my screen goes black, which forces me to restart it everytime. Why am i paying for a broken service?

*UPDATE*

I believe the issue I posted about earlier may be linked to Sony's 4.25 firmware update released earlier this month, and not something on Crunchyroll's end. Other PS3 users that have the slim model are experiencing really unbalanced download speeds, especially from PSN. It's one of those things where I felt I was the only one having this issue, and pointed fingers at my equipment and the CR app.

There are some moments where my PS3 chooses to download really fast versus 56k type performance, and when I have these batches of high speed performance, the CR app works great. I was able to watch the most recent episode of Sword Art Online with zero issues throughout the entire 25 minutes.

Hopefully Sony can put out a better Firmware update soon to fix this since it's super annoying to have such uneven performance.

You can use the CR app. on as many PS3's as you've got in your house. Do not have to have a separate account for each.
