The slow down on streaming / de-sync of audio and visual is a result of a memory leak on the device.
The best way to resolve this issue is to exit the app and then relaunch, or to give your device a power cycle.

As far as the issues where the app crashes while scrolling through episodes, does this happen on videos in your queue?

If yes, please try the following.

1. Launch the app.
2. Go to your Queue.
3. Remove the offending show from your Queue.
4. Exit the app.
5. Relaunch the app.
6. Navigate to the show through the 'Anime' or 'Drama' section.
7. Let me know if it still crashes when maneuvering through episodes.

This is a known issue with shows in the queue where it will improperly cache an image and then crash the app when browsing.

We're working on an update, however I do not have a release date for it.

There are ways to resolve the problems.
We are also working on a patch so that users do not have to take these work arounds.
I apologize for not replying to every one of your posts.
Do not post in here again unless you are trying to help someone.

I'm aware of temporary workarounds, and even that word is an improper descriptor, as per having provided them in the quoted post above from February. However, these in no way resolve the problems, as they always come back, and generally much quicker unless shutting down for a significant period of time. Hope that helps clear up the misunderstanding.

Ive been watching using the PS3 app for a little over a week and the constant pausing during the streams to where I have to refresh it at times are very annoying. I know its not my internet speed cuz I do it with Netflix, Hulu and Youtube on my PS3 with no problem at all. Are the servers that the PS3 use just under a lot of stress of is it something else entirely? Perhaps another patch is needed to fix this problem maybe?

Im having the same issue bro....ITs a silly problem to have , but it is a problem none the less...Have you gotten any help regarding how to resolve this issue??

No help at all, but I don't think there's anything that can be done unless the app itself gets patched/fixed. I honestly don't see any point in continuing to pay for a service that does NOT work. Sure, you can watch a show here and there, IF you go directly to it. Meaning, when you log into the app, it's the very first thing on your queue and you select it immediately. Otherwise, any browsing around makes the app crash or freeze, no matter what. At least, that's what's happening to me. It's most definitely a problem on Crunchyroll's end.

this is why I've made my way to this thread. My ps3(160gb slim) is having this problem while scrolling through episodes on any series regardless of whether or not it's in my queue. I make it halfway, sometimes 3/4, through any given series then the screen goes black while I get a small sound effect I'm assuming to let me know it's crashed and I have to restart my ps3 as it's completely unresponsive.

I've had to start with the first episode of any given series and use R1 to reach whichever episode I'm trying to watch, sometimes while doing this the same thing happens anyways.

This doesn't happen while scrolling on the 'Anime' or 'Drama' sections or while scrolling through my queue just to be clear, only while scrolling through a specific show. Pressing R2 to skip directly to the end also causes the same problem.

Just noticed my post was deleted or maybe I never posted it and I just think it was. Regardless...

I'm very unsatisfied with the app because these issues continue for many of us and there is no way to fully prevent them. Perhaps you could enlighten us peons about how much longer it will be before we have a patch that will *crosses fingers* actually fix most of these issues(even though I'm sure the root cause of half the issues is the stated memory leak). It seems to me that this information isn't too much to ask for unless of course your technical staff has no plans to fix it.

I've only had the app for about a week or two and I'm already having problems with it. Recently, in the last few days, videos have just refused to play. In stays on the screen with all the anime titles and the little circle down in the bottom but nothing happens. I've tried to scroll through the series to play the episode I wish to watch but when I reach a certain spot/episode, the app crashes and I have to restart my PS3. ):

Just posting to say that I started my free trial yesterday and while I'm thoroughly enjoying the service and have minimal to no problems with video/audio streaming, syncing, and quality I am having massive issuees with freezing and crashing.

I'm running the 300gb slim and I have had to hard boot it more times since starting to run CR then the combined lifetime of this machine. It seems to have the potential to strike at any moment, but is most common when I'm actually using the UI(fw/rw, browsing menu, etc.) then when passively watching.

I don't use the instant queue at all as of yet, and probably won't if it makes this an even more frequent problem.

As much as I'd like to be able to tell the exact steps to produce the crash I just really don't have the patience to be a free tester as the occurence is sporatic enough in spacing and trigger point that I'd litterally have to record every button press and title passed for a span of time somewhere between five minutes and two hours.

I really hope to hear this problem is being addressed with all due haste and extreme prejudice because, as much as I'm enjoying CR, ps3 is my primary viewing device and the issue is starting to weigh heavily on my decision to keep a CR sub.

On a side note, though it would probably help the frequency of above problem as well, the controls for ff/rw are kinda poorly thought out. The L and R 2 buttons on the ps3 protrude past the controller frame if you haven't noticed. Meaning every third time i set the controller down it jumps one way or the other, and every single bump of it once set down does the same.
Yes, I realize its possible to shut the controller down, but really, why should anyone ever have to do that to make something work well?

I realize all these things have probably been said and resaid over the last 89 pages, but I really do enjoy your service and I feel that the more people experiencing these problems let you know, the more time and resources will be devoted to fixing them.

As they say, its the squeaky wheel that gets the oil. And I'm sure you'll agree that our 1300 squeaks and creeks are deserving a taste or two.

Just wondering if there is a way to lower the resolution on the PS3 app.
I have been pushing over my GB cap (im from canada and have a 100gb cap which is more then most)
Ever since using crunchyroll I have been pushing wayy over my cap sometimes 4-5gb a day, I never had this problem with netflix so im asuming its a quality difference thats lead to the increase.

If you arent aware, Canada has really small bandwidth caps on our internet plans (some as low as 20gb a month)
Im already paying $65/month for 100GB so its not worthwhile to upgrade and its sucks limiting myself to only 2-3episodes a day (which is about an hour after I skip the intros and credits) there was 2 days I was sick from work and would have loved to get caught up on a new show but had to settle for netflix.

Other then that the occasional crash or freeze up has happened but nothing that cant be fixed by restarting the app, most problems seem to come from scrolling through the menus to quickly.

I'm having issue as well on my PS3. I'm glad I checked this thread because I first thought it was my system, but I opened it up and cleaned up the fan and everything a few days ago so I knew it couldn't have been a overheating issue.

I have a 160gb PS3 Slim, and it'll crash a lot by making a quick sound then the screen goes completely black. I then have to reset my ps3 and before you re-post that "workaround" Bjaker let me say right now to you, it doesn't work.

I navigate to the show I want to watch on the anime section and when I click a show and start scrolling it'll still crash app sometimes. Also, sometimes when I click a episode it won't load properly or when try to fast forward or rewind it'll freeze.

Please fix the ps3 app ASAP, this is getting really annoying and I've only had CR for about a week. While I'm still on the free trail I do plain to keep my subscription for next month. It's just going be painfully having to deal with this if I want to watch AoT on my TV.

Also a bit off topic but when rewinding and fast forwarding you guys should look into having the scenes pop up when you fast forward or rewind. That way it won't be so hard to figure out exactly where I was when the app crashes.

This the right place to post this? I got a question. Why do you have to pay on PS3 for CR to use it, while Roku lets you view the same content a free member does on the website? Why doesnt the PS3 have the free user content? I dont think being able to watch only the first episode of a handful of anime really applies.
