I was unable to log into the PS3 app for a while and I have been experiencing increasing difficulty viewing anime on the PS3.

I am becoming frustrated with this service - I pay for this and the last 3 days I haven't been able to access anything without it freezing, crashing, or refusing to play. Before this I had periodic problems but this is crazy. Anyone know any tips for this?

I have the mature content thing turned on.

I am currently having to hard reset both PS3's due to Crunchyroll. I run Crackle, Netflix HyperHD, HuluPlus and even run a media server with no issues whatsoever.
There seems to be a hangup or severe issue within the code causing the PS3's to stop responding. I have both the original and a new slim, both with high speed internet.
Please find the cause and fix the issue as my PS3's are my primary entertainment devices for my family. I signed up for crunchyroll with high hopes.
So far I may need to cancel subscriptions and find alternative source of anime.

Thanks for the content, wish I could watch it.

L337-1,

One of the things I noticed was my mature content filter was causing hard crashes. Make certain that you have turned yours off. Also, make certain your age is filled out too. If Mature Content filter is on, and you access a series that has mature content, it'll hard lock every time. However, you will still be able to see the series as an available title in the catalog.

Now, for all of you others comparing this app to Netflix, just stop. You'll save yourself some time and headache. Crunchyroll as a company has to combat their own problems that are completely different than Netflix. For one, they have to invest to modify their player to make it more secure to stop fansubbers from stealing their streaming content that they paid for. Netflix doesn't even come near in that boat as far as piracy goes.

Currently, the rumor with the XMB crashes after the 1st and 2nd video is comprised to a memory leak. It appears to be true, as if you look at your queue after watching an episode or two, you'll see the queue menus erroring out and not displaying the full queue, or showing synopsis from a completely different series in your queue. Also graphics are not fully downloading or are corrupted.
Honestly, if you're expecting a fix, we may not get one. I would LOVE to hear something from the company in this regard. Either posting at the top of this thread, or something. However, just food for thought, they only have so many developers, and are probably coding for the PS4 app to have available on launch for 4th quarter. Just bear that all in mind.

Also, look at the number of titles they've gotten this past year (This season in particular). A lot of their capital is tied up in getting these titles, so you might want to cut them a little bit of slack. However, as a paying subscriber, I would just like to see some transparency and a projected fix date from the company. So, if you moderators could pass it along to Corporate Communications and the Devs, it would be super helpful.

Absolutely not, what good is a bunch of shows if we can't properly watch them? When a business expects people to pay for a service, in which they [Crunchyroll] do with the PS3 application, they need to properly maintain it -- it's their obligation to us who buy into it. They shouldn't be spending resources on new shows when things need be repaired and that goes for them or any other company. If not for the PS3 app, I wouldn't even be a paid member, honestly, I wouldn't even be using Crunchyroll.

Hopefully that helps you to understand where a lot of us are coming from at this point.

Okay, let's analyze the issue. Most people are just having the issue with the memory leak, and it closing to the XMB. That's by far the most popular post in the thread. If that's the case, sure...you have to reopen it, but it's not that bad. Annoying, but not that your service is getting denied.
So, if your line of reasoning is that it's just the PS3 app keeping you a paid member. There are plenty of other applications that offer Anime on PS3. So, why would you be using Crunchyroll? Throw Netflix out because they aren't involved in distribution or purchasing licensing from Japan. The only thing that someone can reason is that you're here because of the titles that they have a streaming license for. Which is expensive for them obtain, so just screaming "fix your stuff" before investing is unrealistic. The Anime market in the US is cutthroat.
All I'm saying is keep realistic with your expectations. Because, I've joined every other service that's available on the platform, and I still prefer Crunchyroll (even with an annoying memory leak to close to the XMB) to Neon Alley, and Hulu Plus. In fact, I'd recommend people give it a try and I still think 7 out of 10 would say CR is better.
Agree with you it can be frustrating, and again if you're completely getting locks, I'd make certain the content filter and age is properly filled out. It solved some of the locking problems that I had.

Thanks, that along with a direct line has cleared up all my problems. I've been doing a lot of catching up lately and enjoying becoming a couch potato!

I'm just going to have to respectfully disagree with you and your ideals of how they should be doing things. I'm already on thin ice here as it is and that seems too far for me to step anymore.

As for the quoted bit, that is one of the first things I did before extensively using the PS3 app some 6-7 months ago as it just so happened it conflicted with a lot of the anime I was interested in. There is literally nothing I have not tried and tested at this point; other PS3's, connections, locations -- I've tried everything within my capacity to make sure it's not something that can be fixed or escaped on the users' end.

So, I downloaded the CR app on my PS3, and I CANNOT get it to even start.
This message always comes up:

"To access this content, you must activate this system.
Sign in with the account that was used to purchase this content, select [System Activation] under [Playstation Network] > [Account Management], and then activate this system."

And I have tried. I did exactly as it said to do.
I am truly at my wit's end. Please help me, I would greatly appreciate it.
(Also, I would just watch shows on my laptop, but my laptop sucks and can't even do SD without the playback being choppy.)
