Hey guys,

First time user (and subscriber) here since the ps3 app went live. I like the content and design of the app so far, but there are a few things about the service that seem like they could be improved, as things seem somewhat rough around the edges compared to services like Netflix or Hulu. (Which is understandable, giving the budget you're probably working with. And I'm ignoring the ps3 app's performance issues here, assuming they'll get fixed in a patch.)

Alright, so...

1. Episode names should really be tidied up some. For example, the titles of the first episodes of Code Geass, Eureka Seven, and Gintama:

Episode 1 – Code Geass S1-Ep.01-"The Day a New Demon Was Born"-Eng
Episode 1 – Episode 1 – Blue Monday
Episode 1 – You Guys!! Do You Even Have a Gintama? (Part 1)

Why aren't they all formatted like Gintama? There's no consistency and a lot of clutter and redundancy.

2. It seems redundant to have two separate listings per episode for shows that are both subbed and dubbed, like Code Geass. Would it be better to have a single page/listing per episode, with an option to toggle between the dub/sub while viewing the episode?

3. Are the sporadic sub/dub offerings something that can't really be helped? For example, Mobile Suit Gundam and Gundam 00 are only dubbed, while Gundam Wing is only subbed. Which really blows my mind. If anything on here would be dubbed, I'd expect it to be Wing!

4. Is there any intent to update some older subbed material? The giant yellow text used for Haruhi 2006 is pretty bad.

5. Why do you only have the first season of Code Geass? ='(

Aside from that, everything's really great so far, and I can't wait to see how this service evolves over time. I remember a little bit about crunchyroll from way back in the day, and it was nothing like it is now.

And I can't wait for smooth, HD streaming on the ps3 app!

Keep up the progress!

Crunchyroll only has a handful of dubs and even fewer that offer a choice of dub or sub, so unless that changes, I doubt it is worth the effort for them to rework the system.

One of the few sites I know that use the system you suggested is The Anime Network. Funimation's is perhaps the worst of all, since they intermix the episodes (i.e., episode 1 dub, episode 1 sub, episode 2 dub, episode 2 sub, etc.) in their list.

TAN also has another nice feature I wish CR would borrow. Their list of anime uses 3 color coded dots beside each title; one for dub, one for sub, and another indicating if an HD version is available.

It is rather much up to the publisher (which in this case is Bandai). I've seen questions from other users about dubs that CR was looking into other language options, but I have seen movement toward acquiring new dubbed titles or titles with a the option of dub or sub.

Those appear to be hard subs, which means there isn't much Crunchyroll can do about them. What you see would be what the publisher provided. It would basically mean CR asking the publisher to re-encode the videos, which they would expect compensation for (assuming they were even willing to do it).

Only Bandai knows. I've wondered about that myself, as they provided both Gundam 00 series.
