A lot of new stuff in two weeks: Dr. Jin, 200 Pound Beauty, The Secret Reunion, Time Traveller, Angel Beats, Hell Girl and the PS3 App. And now 15 movies have been added.

But the problem is: EVERYTHING is only available in the US and Canada. I thought things were improving but now Crunchyroll has become more US and Canada focused than ever. How many more US and Canada-only announcements will it take before Crunchyroll finally gets something that is also available elsewhere?

It depends on how many more back-catalog announcements there are until the Fall anime season announcements start. The majority of anime back catalog anime announcements and almost every single back catalog live action announcements are North American rights only, since for back catalog titles, Crunchyroll is almost always sublicensing from a licensing or distribution company that only has North American rights.

And no amount of North America-only live action announcements can make Crunchyroll more US and Canada focused "than ever" ~ Crunchyroll has never had any substantial success in getting live action rights outside of the US & Canada. The success in getting international rights has been almost entirely in getting international rights for simulcast streaming.

That's one of the reasons that there are separate anime and drama memberships, as well as the combined premium membership ~ since its so rare for live action rights outside of North America to be available to Crunchyroll, it wouldn't be fair to charge people living outside of North America to get access to those titles.

It might have started out as an asterisk to a "US and Canadian viewers only" note, and then someone got smart and realized with that many titles, hiding the note at the bottom of the announcement was not a good idea, and they moved the "US and Canada only" up into the main announcement.

If that's what happened, they forgot to delete the asterisk when they fixed it.

U.S.A. and Canada only? Crunchyroll, we are paying the same amount of money as them and yet we aren't allowed to watch these movies.

I guess I'm paying my membership to see this message "Sorry, this video is not available in your region due to licensing restrictions.".

Seriously

It kind unfair for people who have membership on CR living outside the US and Canada but somewhat reasonable they only hold the rights in North America

Thanks Crunchyroll.

It's nice to see more selection in content. Anime, here, introduced me to Korean dramas which in turn pointed me to Asian dramas in general. I began finding Korean theatrical films shortly thereafter (Shiri and Tube have been my favorites, so far) as well as films from other Asian countries like the Thai movie Chocolate (absolutely stunning if you like martial arts fare).

Of late I've been trying to find pretty much anything with Bae Doo-na; having already watched Tube, Air Doll, Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance, and The Host (Tube being my favorite among those), not to mention any and every series where she stars or is even featured. In that vain, it would be nice if you could bring "Linda, Linda, Linda" here. I'm having trouble finding the DVD or legal streaming of that one and everything I've read indicates it's a superb film.

I wish CR members who criticize would realize the respective studios determine licensing terms and availability. It's pointless and (at best) rude to berate Crunchyroll for offerings that are restricted to certain regions and series that are incomplete (like Moon Hee). All-in-all, I'm still very happy with my membership and hope you continue the good work.

I love that Crunchyroll is getting more Asian movies. However, I agree with many of the posters that anime based movies would be great too. I'd love to see the Space Brothers movie here or at least get a chance to buy it on DVD here.

While I haven't seen all of the recent movies licensed to Crunchyroll, some of them are truly amazing. A few are suited for a more mature audience due to extreme language, violence and sexual content. While one of them I think was attempting to spoof American pop culture.

*hi5*

My character in the Secret World is patterned after Shin Min-ah, and her kitsune character. :)

As for the movies, Im definitely going to check a few of these out, especially the Art of Seduction. I love Korean comedies!

Seriously

Why are you paying the same price?

(1) You bought a premium membership even though an anime membership is cheaper and, since almost all drama is limited to North America, gives just about as much access outside of North America?

Then don't do that. Change your membership to an anime-only membership.

(2) You bought the Cyber-Monday deal which was a one-year combined membership at 20% off of the regular price for an anime-only all-year membership (with a $10 off a Crunchyroll deal thrown in on top).

If its under three quid a month, and cheaper than the regular price anime-only membership, what exactly is the complaint? Who else in the UK offers as much streaming anime as Crunchyroll does, for under three quid a month?
