Bjaker, CR's customer service guy is off on weekends, so it will likely be Monday before this gets addressed for you. To avoid missing notifications of new messages in the meantime, mark the same number of messages unread as your inbox is negative (i.e., if your inbox is "-2", mark two messages as unread). It is best to do this with older messages, so that you won't confuse them as actually not having been read. That's what a lot of my friends do since they don't care much for fixing it.
