i'm not religious. i was born into a christian family, not the kind that goes to church and stuff, but the kind celebrates it at easter and whatnot.
science has always made more sense to me however. it's logical, proven and/or backed up with some kind of evidence.
believing in something i can understand, see and recognize as factual? of course.
believing in something i don't understand, can't see and makes little sense? no, not likely.
religion is and always will be very silly to me, and i will never believe any of them. something entirely based on gambled faith just doesn't do it for me...

however, i do respect and understand that religion is valuable to others.

same here. i don't hate religion, and i know it's important to others, but i just don't like it. i don't tell people off because they like it, and i'm okay with people liking religion, but it's just not for me.

Heard hell was a nice place to stay. Could use a vacation.

I'm a Christian. I'm not the kind that tells anyone they're going to hell, I'm not the kind that judges, I'm not the kind that... Well, let's just say joining the Westboro Baptist Church is something I'd never do.

I'm religious because my beliefs are worth believing in. Life just feels like so much more with faith.

I'm Agnostic Theist...

Do I believe in God?^^

Not really, but then again, when I'm scared...

I say "Jesus, please don't let the police find my stash"

Works every time! Hey, maybe their is a God watching over me! I should probably go to church more often

I'm an atheist, I don't take anybody's crap about religion. Religion staunches growth, whereas atheism is great, it expands our knowledge and allows questions. However, I'd like to think there's some sort of afterlife, as there are many other dimensions to our universe (11 according to the String Theory), but not necessarily a "god" to rule that, there's no such thing.

Religion is one big fairy tale, people should realize that by now. How do you know if religion wasn't first created as an actually joke, and there were just too many people down the line of history to take it seriously?

This is one of those view points that annoys me, as a semi philosophical person. If you are reading the fairy tale for the truth, and not the anecdotal message, you are missing the point.

Personally, I do believe that a man name Jesus Christ did, at one point in time, walk this earth. Historical evidence points to this, as well as every major religion in the world accepts the existence of Jesus and have some reference to his teachings. Whether he is the son of god or what not, I don't know, but that is not something I concern myself with. I honestly like the idea that there are an infinite possible choices in life, and that past, present, and future have been, are, and will be.

I believe that god is a poorly defined existence in most modern religion simply because 'he' is defined. I believe personifying god really detracts from what god either is, or what could be. Everything in Christianity that I've come across plays with ideas strongly tied to emotion, something I find interesting, as the human psyche is not something that is really understood.

I like to think about different aspects of religion to try and understand things in this context, and toy with the idea that god is the force that ties psyche together in the world, and religion is a method of uniting the psyche of the human race into a coherent thought.

as such, it bothers me when atheists say they believe in nothing. Science was originally driven by philosophy, remember. The bible, for example, is just a long book of people trying to explain the answers they have found to their questions. What you take from it is up to you. Also, you shouldn't just claim atheism simply because christians can be annoying.
