It's fine to question someones faith, but quit fucking bashing them about it. One side does it more than the other i've noticed when it comes to this topic. You make yourself hypocrite when you do that shit. Damn trolls.

I think I can finally understand the truth, you guys are right!

I should just blatantly respect people's religious belief in HONOR KILLINGS.

Thank you for giving everyone an example on what I just mentioned.

Since you're such an intellectual and philosophical giant, please humor us and justify honor killings or how you can respect them.

Just curious.

And thank you for being an example of the insane stupidity of religious moderates who defend their nonsensical beliefs without thought to the consequences. You are part of the problem. People like you who defend the actions of fundamentalists are guilty of shielding them from a reality so plain to see, that they're willing to commit the most heinous acts imaginable on behalf of the religious texts you draw your false ideals from.

You share in the blood, and the suffering of innocents. You have taken up the side without ethics. And you actually think what you're doing is positive, that's how far down the rabbit hole you've gone. There is nothing, nothing, nothing at all intolerant about pointing out the disgusting nature of religious claims, and the wretched intolerance and self righteousness with which fundamentalists smother themselves.

They aren't doing anything in the "name of religion" that's a cop-out. They aren't misinterpreting things either. They're doing it because they really truly believe. And the religious texts they adore, actually instruct them to. I've read these books critically, as have many others, it is the majority academic conclusion that they are not misinterpreting their God's commandments to kill and torture. Religious moderates are the only ones who have misinterpreted these ancient texts. So badly in fact, that they actually think the Bible is about love and kindness and that the Koran is a book of peace and wisdom. Nothing could be further from the truth. They are engines of murder.

Please do, if those few of us with un-poisoned critical thinking faculties don't speak up, this entire world is forfeit. There is absolutely no reason to expect to survive the meeting of 21st century technology and religious fundamentalism. They aren't deterred by mutually assured destruction. As Sam Harris said, "How many more PhDs, Architects and Engineers need to hit the wall at 400mph, to prove that fundamentalists are actually willing to hit the wall at 400mph?" We can't allow moderates to shield these warped ancient holy books any longer. They must be taken to task for encouraging the spread of delusional psychopaths.

I'm an atheist, religion is more common in North America than the UK, i don't know a single person who is religious ..

I'm not sure if that's true. I think that religion is a lot less "in your face" in the UK than in America. I can think of a few people I've known where the only reason I knew they were Christians was because of an occasional comment (like "I've got to do such-and-such at the church this weekend.")

Other than a few evangelical Christian and Muslim groups, religion seems to be a largely private affair in the UK, and as far as I can tell it's the same in most of Western Europe. Even out of the Christians I've known most of them have simply seen it as an aspect of their life, rather than the thing that defines them like some of the more fanatical American Christians.

Personally, I'm not religious, though I do believe in a creator of some description (I think that Deism is closest to my beliefs.) I like to keep an open mind regarding other belief systems though, as I find that sometimes there are aspects of their philosophies which work for me.

Yeah its just Americans being Americans, they get all in your face with religion, race, sexuality and politics. As a generalization the UK is a lot more reserved in these affairs, which has good and bad consequences. Furthermore most of my friends are atheists or not particularly religious; most young people I know in the UK are just sceptical of religion but think there may be a higher power, but not sure exactly who or what. I am thankful every day we don't have a huge issue of religious dispute in this country any more, all its caused is war, killings, attacks, terrorism and conflict. I appreciate the social cohesion and other positive effects of religion but after hundreds of years of the good & bad effects of religion I think the UK has had enough to last a lifetime. I think its time for these old traditions to be thrown out completely. I mean religion itself has largely adapted itself over the years, and now I hope its the time we realize that we don't need it any more.

I said " I respect everybody's faith or belief", that doesn't mean that I defend them? RESPECT-http://youtu.be/CVOQOK9L8uk fast forward to 1:48 if you need too. I'm not going to defend or attack someone based on there beliefs. I simply respect thier decision, even if it contradicts my own. So I don't know what HONOR KILLINGS and crimes have to do with me showing some respect towards someones belief? Without feelings of respect, what is there to distinguish men from beasts?-Confucius

Don't get me wrong... I love religious debates, i learn something new on both sides. It's amazing how much knowledge people know on these topics.

My main topic is that people are taking the intellectual part of the debates out with empty insults. I try to believe that these people are just trolling. But when I see "thank you for being an example of the insane stupidity of religious moderates'', i can't take it serious. And i just skim through it like the those empty arguments on youtube. I don't see how the insults will help your cause? That's what the bare bones of this was about.

I would love to ask you some stuff about this topic, but I don't want to feel like I'm dealing with a debating time bomb.

Your pathetic attempt to try and twist your b.s. response into something less atrocious is transparent.

Tell us why you respect people's belief in honor killings, or their belief that homosexuals are abominations. Explain why you're so willing to respect unethical people.

Confucius said a man's ethics say everything about him!

And as the great sage would have asked you to: please tell us why you remain neutral, are you too cowardly to stand up for what is right, or are you simply a man without ethical compass?

How does science feel about spirits that speak of god?
