I'm not atheist, but I don't follow a religion. I feel there's a higher power but I can't believe it's a God because I need proof.
I don't mind atheists or religious people as long as they don't shove it down others' throats.

I am not, and why not? Why take the chance of receiving 72 ugly virgins, roasting in Hades, spending an eternity with boring Christians doing boring things, or being reincarnated as an insect?

Ahh... I should have been clear I suppose. I am Christian, so two out of those three things don't apply to me. Can I ask you something? Why would you think it would be boring?

Apparently you missed the sarcasm. What makes you think those other two things don't apply to you just because you chose to be a christian? If you were born a native american in 300 AD you would know nothing of a god that impregnated a 12 year old virgin just so he can have a human sacrifice to save you from an eternal damnation which he created. Why would a "god" play favorites and exclude the global population? Probably because that god was invention of that tribe or it is a god not worthy of my worship.
Sorry I can't imagine the christian heaven being anymore exciting than a church service. An eternity in the same place that bickering old christian women go can't be heaven.

My personal look is that you can boast about how science has enlighten you and opened your mind, but if you haven't contributed to it then shut your damn now. Don't try to leech off of other's people's success.

If I were an atheist, I'd probably go on a killing spree because if there is no punishment after death, then life basically has now meaning. You could talk about how important life is, but once you're dead, you're dead. Less people on the earth :D

First Paragraph:
So if I haven't cured a disease or made a groundbreaking discovery i'm not allowed to provide scientific explanations to phenomena that people hand wave as "acts of god"? What would be considered "contributing to science"? Curing cancer? Writing a paper in college? Unless i'm reading this wrong you're basically saying that unless you are a scientist you can't talk about specific scientific things such as evolution or the big bang.

Second Paragraph:
Comments like these are one of the things about religious people that scare the hell out of me. Are you telling me the only thing keeping you from killing people is fear of post death punishment by a non-corporeal life-form? How about not killing people because you're a rational human being with self control who values human life? Fucking terrifying man.

you better believe it buddy. There's only a shred of sanity left in this mind of mine.

Well if there's no one to punish you for your crimes after death, then why be scared of dying. Once you're dead, no more worries.

Well i could say.... i'm both religious in some way,and in some way i'm not. I don't believe in the Bible or any events that are in it since most of them are probably made up (cept' maybe Jesus Christ) but i like to keep myself open minded, and accept other theory's other then what that book full of shit told me.

eh, people really want to know, i say i am outside of religion. of course if its a christian they will try to convert me, and i say no because i dont want the fear it brings. i mean if your happy being an aithiest, go ahead, your happy being christian, go ahead (irnoicly, christianity is trying to make it a one world religion where everyone believes in god, yet thier bible says that their antichrist will bring one world religion and government, talk about backwards). if your wiccan thats great too, if you believe in lucifer and do sacrifices for him, whatever floats your boat just keep that crap away from me. its like the bi/gay/les thing that is happening now, dont force your oppinon on me and we will get along (for the most part i dont like them because they force thier oppinion on me, some i do get along with that understand that they shouldnt force anything on anyone). sorry for all the typos i just dont feel like going through correcting everything. however if someone is bored enough they can.

Religions are like d*cks. You shouldn't wave them around in public and you shouldn't shove them down kids' throats.

I suppose you could say I'm religious. I believe in God. It doesn't mean I hate science. To me, although we love to make it out to be, science and religion, irrationality and rationality, logic and whatever the opposite is, aren''t really mutually exclusive to each other. People change on a daily basis, even if it's not a major noticeable one. There's no reason to conform ourselves to strict parameters like that.

I live my life by what I believe is right. If there's a heaven and it gets me there, then that's a plus. If it turns out I'm wrong, then I'll still die happy knowing that I lived the best life I possibly could.

Yes, I'm religious. Why? Because I am. There's not really any way to describe your faith, since all religion must be accepted in that manner.

However to all the people using science and evolution in a synonymous way, don't. Evolution requires just as much faith as any religion, however I'm not going to argue about it on a forum, since all it will achieve is frustration and there is no possible way for me to adequately convey my thoughts. If you want to hear what leads people to this conclusion, go read The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel. If you're willing to let your personal bias rest for a bit, I'm sure you'll at least consider it an interesting book. And if you still think you can call evolution science after that, then I'd like to talk about it personally.

Even if you think evolution is science, which I can't stop you from doing, out of courtesy for the religious people on this forum please refrain from using them interchangeably.

I'm a Christian. I do believe in God. But I'm not the type where I shove religion down your throat, I'm one of them laid-back Christians. There are 3 things in the world you shouldn't talk about with other people: politics, religion and kissing your own sister. To me, it just gives my life a little more meaning.

I don't believe in the bible and some days I believe in God, and some days I don't.
I don't really think about religion so much because I don't really need it in my life.
