Some people come up with some crazy stuff, like string theory, bubble theory, saying there are multiple dimensions with different universes with different laws, though I do agree that before the Universe, it does not seem that physics could exist.

I'm not a religious person mainly because i think religion was made to control people. Not to say religion is "evil", but it isn't necessary for me.

Praising God forever is something I would be happy to do. It beats doing bugger-all for eternity.

I view religion as an excellent way to set up a standard of morals and societal codes that help to promote specific sets of behavior within a community. I moved around a lot growing up and attended a large number of churches. It was through this that I learned that the text they view as holy and live their life by can be interpreted in thousands of different ways, with each perspective claiming to be the correct one. I am not religious and do not believe in a god of any kind, I do however understand the importance of religion and the impact that it has on both the population and individual.

Also here are some videos on faith for anyone who wants to have a constructive conversation.

There is the myth that reason and faith are irreconcilable that is being perpetuated by both non-believers and believers alike.

I'm a molecular biologist. I think, eat, and sleep science. At the same time, I am deeply religious. I find no quarrel between the two. Usually people that do are those that lack one or the other, so they place them at odds. The more you learn of both, the greater understanding there is to gain.

However, I do believe that there is only one true religion. That being said, I feel like other religions have pieces of the truth. So from that perspective, learning from one of those religions would only get you so far. I don't say this to offend, just to explain my point of view. If there is one God, there can be only one true set of teachings that follow his exact will. Since there are millions of different beliefs that don't agree, it's only logical that they cannot all be be following God's with conflicting doctrines.

On the topic of heaven/paradise. If you believe yourself to be a "son or daughter of God", and somehow have come to the conclusion that his only purpose in creating you is to watch you struggle on Earth so that eventually you can praise him for all eternity, then you might want to look somewhere else for your answers. Why would God even need you to be here if all he has planned for you is to sit around, or to only mindlessly praise him for all eternity? Life is progress, life is perpetually working to become better. Why would that stop? If you truly believe yourself a child of God, then you should realize that children grow into adults. Now put that on God's scale of time and you'll realize that we have a long way to go.

The idea of eternity is brutal to those that live their lives in a state of darkness. The idea of forever seems daunting because its only seen from a narrow perspective. Even those that believe can't fully comprehend the actual concept. I couldn't understand organic chemistry in first grade either. Over many years, and through countless hours of learning bit by bit, I did eventually learn Ochem. If you were to show it to me when I was in first grade, I would have just looked at it like non-sense and moved on. Religion and science are similar in that way. People scoff at what they don't understand because they want all the answers/understanding given to them in 5 minutes. They don't want to take the time and effort to learn and to grow.

I just had identical twin girls. They share the exact same DNA. Since the time in their mother's womb, to the day that they were born, and now at 6 months, they have 100% different personalities. There was no time for them to learn human behavior, and they share the exact same genome. So why are they different? Because their body isn't the only part of them. They also have spirits. Body + Spirit = Soul. They should be a copy of one another, from a science point of view, but that is simply not the case. Does that make science wrong? No, it just means science hasn't caught up to understand that yet. Every 10 years or so, the scientific community decides that its reached the pinnacle of scientific understanding, only to be totally blown apart by new discoveries that entirely change the way we viewed things before.

TL:DR. Just search for yourself. Question everything. Don't be afraid to actually DO, not just believe. Build up, don't try and tear down.

On my own, I'd probably just play video games and do the minimum needed to pay the bills. I'd put everything til the last minute and only do the things I'm interested in. As a Christian, following God's will helps me avoid my selfishness. I like being able to go beyond my own desires and make decision that are good for everyone (friends, family, coworkers). I can be proud of the changes in myself. I'm content with life.
I've had things happen at just the right time to let me know that God's is really out there watching. It's relieving to know that I don't have to make life happen, it will work out because God has a plan.

I believe that this peace is for everyone, but I never try to interfere with free will. People get to make their own decision, and that's what makes being Human such a unique thing. No animal chooses their nature as we do. So each of us will seek truth in our individual ways. I wish you all the best of luck =)

I'm not religious, but i'm also not an atheist. I do believe that there is some sort of balance in this world but i also believe that there are more than one specific entity in this whole damn universe, so i'm guessing i'm spiritual?. I don't judge others about their religion figuring everyone has a free will, in fact i like learning about other religions, so interesting. Guess what got me into being just spiritual is how other religions out there keep saying how their religion is the true source. You don't really know what to believe so you come to a conclusion that there is something out there but it is told in so any different ways. In the end i guess religion makes you have faith, a thing that all people need.

P.s I also believe in Ghosts and the Supernatural Lol!, Hey if God is an entity and is *real* then spirits are real too, am i right?

Just saying cause one time my friend said that he believes in God but not spirits and such, i was like Wtf? xD

Why is spirits real if God is real...
...They're two different entity... and would require their very own set of evidences to support their existence
