I'm Atheist. I've taken classes discussing the history of myths and religions. I find the stories fun to read and discuss but treat them as stories, a good fiction and nothing more. Though I find it odd people believe in a religion that borrows from other cultures and lacks originality. Most of the core stories and concepts from christianity can be found in other beliefs that pre date it. I think people seeking a better way to live life is possible without religion. Also conflicting religious beliefs can be a dampener on relationships (how to raise kids, what to believe, etc.) So in my opinion, I see life without religion better. However I won't make a fuss if someone practices their beliefs in public, its a right they are entitled to. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Oe6HUgrRlQ Though I think this concept of Atheism 2.0 is a fantastic way to be an Atheist.

I am Religious because my faith affirms my existence. I know there is no evidence that the metaphysical OR physical world exists outside of my own mind, so I just have my faith.

Why would it matter if someone tells a atheist "your going to hell"? if you don't believe in god, you don't believe in hell....... right?

I believe in god, I have many reasons why... just not enough energy to post them...

But, I don't believe all atheist are going to hell, I think god will deal with them another way, when they see that he is real... I mean, some people don't even get a chance to consider god as an option, then are raised that way.

I was Indoctrinated into christianity and went through it for 14 years, later I became an atheist. I don't agree with many things christianity teaches. Even the church I belonged to was associated with big named churches like kenneth copland, joyce myer, creflo dollar...etc. The church I was apart of was also a mega church, yet all in all their prosperity teachings are corrupted. To make a long story short I began studying most religions and compared them and found out that it wasn't for me. I am curious about Buddhism at the moment...

Concepts don't exist. Objects only truly exist. Our realities are completely conceptual so our realities don't really exist. We determine objects exist through concept. Therefore we don't even know if objects truly exist.

The atheistic worldview is so empty. I don't understand why atheists get so worked up over theirs and others beliefs when if they took the time to think over their own belief system they would be lead to the conclusion that they don't even believe in their own realities!

I am a Christian. I believe that God exists, but that also doesn't mean that I don't believe in science either.

It seems like some people don't like the idea of religion

And yes, there is hypocrisy in the church and stuff -- but don't blame the belief itself. There are a lot of people out there that call themselves 'Christian' but their acts are not aligned with what they "believe" in.

If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless
James 1:26

What is this Christianity religion really about?
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world
James 1:27

wow...isn't that off than what we see today?

Yes/No. I'm either Agnostic or an Omnist. If one guy sees Buddha, and another sees God, you can't sit there and tell one another that they hallucinated - either you both did, or both gods exist; for me, it's pretty much as simple as that.

The one thing I feel I can for sure take from that is that you both have faith.

I'm not sure that I understand religion enough to have a credible opinion on the subject.

I do however believe that if you value the words in a book that has been written by a human more than your own common sense, then you probably shouldn't be allowed to purchase weapons.

Personally, I believe that there is a difference between "Religion" and "Faith". Religion is the structure in which Faith is practiced. The biggest difference between the two for me is that Religion is structured by fellow men. That in itself isn't a bad thing and I am in no way against structured religion. However, there are certain practices that are encouraged by my Religion that I necessarily don't believe in, and therefore not partake in.

I am Catholic. I'm confident that not a lot of people will believe me by saying that I experience God in my everyday life. Personally, He is much more than a best friend and a Father, than someone superior. Sure, I acknowledge His superiority in everything but it just feels like He stoops down to my level. He's just always there. Doesn't matter when I'm in the shower, taking a test, or during my "morning run" to the bus stop.

To answer the question, no: I am not religious. I, however, am faithful. I have my own set of beliefs that I hold true despite being Catholic. I have considered atheism long ago and, honestly, the thought that there is nothing out there "bigger" than me seems so bleak. Atheism is just too lonely for me.

That's all I want to say for now because I'm pretty sure I can write a whole book on my opinion on this. lol
