Synopsis Riding the bus one day, Sakurakouji Sakura looks out the window to see people being burned alive with a blue fire and a boy her age who's unharmed and standing over the people. She comes back to the site the next day and there are no corpses or evidence of any kind of murder, just a small fire. She then goes to class to find there's a new transfer student, Oogami Rei, who looks exactly like the boy she saw before and wears a black glove only on his left hand. Oogami is a Code Breaker, one who "does not exist". He is a seemingly cold-blooded killer who follows the principle of "an eye for an eye", to "use evil against evil". Convinced that killing is not right, Sakurakouji sets out to stop him and penetrate his icy heart. Main Characters Rei Oogami (大神 零) (Voiced by Nobuhiko Okamoto) The protagonist/antihero. Ogami Rei is a mysterious young boy about whom not much is known. Sakura first witnesses him burning people with a blue flame in a park; the day later he transfers to her school. When Sakura confronts him about his killings, Ogami reveals to her that he's in fact a "Code:Breaker", a secret government agent who punishes those who can't be punish by the law. His code number is 06, meaning he's the weakest member of the Code:Breakers. He believes strongly in the idea behind the Code of Hammurabi, often citing the quote "Eye for eye (目には目を, Me ni wa me wo?), Tooth for tooth (歯には歯を, Ha ni wa ha wo?)" and adding on "EVIL for EVIL (悪には悪を, Aku ni wa aku wo?) Externally, Ogami is an aloof, uncaring person who is whole-heartedly dedicated to punishing evils and cares for not much else, but Sakura gets closer to him she realizes that his actions often belies his cruel words. Ogami's power lies in his left arm, which burns anything he touches with a blue flame. Sakura Sakurakouji (桜小路 桜) (Voiced by Yōko Hikasa) Sakura, is thought of as cute and helpless by boys who think they should protect her, but she's actually a martial arts expert and turns down guys who ask her out because they don't know the real her. Prior to the storyline, she found an old dog whose homeless owner had died a few months before the start of the story. She attempts to befriend the dog whom she promptly names "Dog". Her attempts are fruitless until Oogami comes. She is apparently an exception to Rei's fire and cannot be burned. Sakura disagrees strongly with Oogami regarding his views on people, specifically criminals, and that they are trash who need to die. I honestly cannot wait for the anime to come out! I've been a fan of the manga series since it debuted and I remember when I used to wait every week for a new chapter to come out. I'll be tuning in for new episodes this time. I'm so happy! I want to know what everyone else thinks. Fall is gonna be good! ![]() |

I enjoyed the first episode.
It's not on crunchyroll though, and the quality of the videos on other sites sucked. Sigh. |

Code: Breaker will end up being a 6 or 7 out 10 show, calling it now.
I say this because I've read the manga. It's pretty standard stuff. Not a real spoiler, but a general idea of how the manga is, I haven't read any lately because I got bored of it: Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Super strong guy who is misunderstood by most people, and has locked himself up emotionally so that he won't feel a thing. Introduce the clueless lovely girl with a super strong sense of Justice, who gradually makes the super strong guy "soft" and "weak", before he somehow realises that he was doing something wrong and suddenly becomes secure and super strong again, yet without locking away his emotions. |

I've read the first few chapters, didn't really have that "hold" which made me want to continue; however certainly an anime such as this will have a bit more of my attention than a manga.
I think the Mod called it right, the whole anime base is boring and overused, at least the boy meets girl either boy or girl has power... ps. don't get me wrong I LOVE boy meets girl |

I hate how I agree with most of this. This DOESN'T automatically make the anime bad though. Sure the characters are kind of generic, but in this day and age, who aren't? But considering the story is far more original than a lot of anime coming out recently, I still want to give this one a chance. You two are such haters. AHTL you bitch. Leynir wrote: Blue fire again? Well, an unoriginal story can still be quite great if done right. But considering how the manga does the story, I think it will end up being a bit lacklustre, having some dumb/goofy funny moments, some serious moments, but overall being a bit underwhelming. |

I wish it's not as bad as you make it out to be though. You are just hard to please. |

I love anime, but when you've seen so much and you see something like this pop up
reaction stage 1: sigh... this shit again >.> reaction stage 2: sigh... god dammit reaction stage 3: sigh... w/e currently I'm on stage 3; however I don't think the term overused is correct just because EVERYTHING is similar... edit: all animes I rate start at 7 so... it can only go up right???? lol |

I can already see that Nobuhiko Okamoto will play his role fine as the main male protagonist with his badass voice like he did with Accelerator from Toaru Majutsu no Index.
I hope this series will stay true to its manga story though. |
