people from Illinois... not Chicago

how many people get annoyed when they tell someone they're from Illinois and they instantly assume or say "oh you're from Chicago!" ? and ya have to sit there for 10 minutes explaining that you don't live in Chicago.... and sometimes even explain why you don't live there.
 i get annoyed sometimes... just depends on who i'm talking to. |

I don't assume that people are from Chicago. I am aware Illinois is a state. Meaning there isn't just one place.
That would annoy me, too. Its kinda like, for example, I'm from Utah, and people automatically assume I'm Mormon. Kinda. |

It's okay, no need to feel sorry. It's just that I've met some people who act like proud Chicagoans but they're actually not from there. I've also met people who say they're from San Francisco but they're really from Daly City. I mean, it's hardly the same city life or culture. I personally don't mind others telling me from what town they're actually from even if I never heard of it. Not all of us can live in a major city. =P |
