Can't say for sure what your problem is in detail, however that's very low end hardware: basically it's an 800mhz variation of the usual 600mhz chip found in low end phones. Now, the clock isn't that much of an issue... But the older architecture is visibly slow. An 800mhz Prevail would be a lot slower than an 800mhz HTC Desire Z due to the newer architecture. So all in all, it might be that your phone can't handle it. Just so you can compare, the average 1ghz CPU found in many phones should barely be able to decode 720p video, if encoded in DivX, that is a very lightweight codec. Now, unless I remember wrong, Crunchyroll uses h264 for video, at least if you are a subscriber. H264 is extremely difficult to decode, most phones can handle it only because they put a dedicated chip to handle this specific video decoding task!

What do you mean the app is slow?

I have tried the CR app on an old HTC Eris which only has an old 528mhz single core processor, the same one used in my old Touch Pro 2. The CR app worked just fine on the Eris, but that was almost 2 years ago and they may have made changes to the video playback since then.

As for h264 playback, it should have no problems playing back 480p h264 video. My old Touch Pro 2 had no problems playing my DVD rips encoded with h264 at 720x480 resolution, but remember that was on Windows Mobile 6.1 and my TP2 had a built in h264 hardware decoding support. I'm not so sure about any of the Samsung Android phones as I have never owned one.

If you can tell us what is slow about the app and there may be a solution.

Have you tried watching the Naruto videos through the full Crunchyroll App instead of just the Naruto app?
