I already used the search function, but I somehow can't believe that this topic hasn't been formed yet. Sorry if this is a duplicate but I really cannot find another thread with this as the title.
Introduction
Sengoku Akira and his classmates are on a plane that crashes on an island inhabited by a species thought to have been extinct. Some of his classmates are eaten alive, some kill others in desperation. Now Akira and a few other survivors are trying to stay alive through what seems to be a horrible nightmare.

Cage of Eden is an awesome manga.
It's a great mix of Survival/Horror, and Science Fiction/Mystery.
The series shows that, even though they're in a land filled with mostly prehistoric monsters, humans can still be the scariest thing of all.

Incase people aren't caught up with the manga:
Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Since the Nishikiori stuff is basically over, I wonder what creatures they'll run into next.
They'll probably bump into a few things on the way to the last tower.
Something crazy is bound to go down at the last tower, and we might figure out what the island really is.
I can't wait.

Chapter 166 is released! You can read it on several manga sharing websites (not sure if I'm allowed to post links)

Click to show or hide Although it was totally expected and I was actually hoping for Kurusu-sensei's successful operation, it would have been welcome if they had decided to suddenly kill her off to remind us of the grim reality. The last important character that died was Zaji, and the last person if I'm not mistaken was Hikime, which was already quite a while back.
I'm actually inclined to believe Nishikori that they are not near Okinawa. They still have to wait for the disk to be opened by Mariya and visit the final tower. Also, back to Isurugi Miina who has that weird amnesia but is the key for all the problems! |

I can tell the upcoming events are going to be awesome.
Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Hopefully they don't just keep running into more, and more chimeras.
That would kill the importance the previous ones had.
I'm not saying they should never see another chimera, but the island shouldn't magically be full of them after they met the first two.

The author probably didn't want to drag that on longer by having them encounter more things after they just dealt with a ridiculously powerful beast.
But since they're heading over to the final tower soon, I expect them to meet things on the way there. (Especially since it's on the other side of the island.)

Click to show or hide I agree with you that we should expect them to meet some obstacles on the way there, but I don't think any of the obstacles can be more epic than what we have already encountered. For me, one of the best obstacles of the story was the gigantic ape-thingy who had basic intelligence. I don't think whatever they can encounter can beat that besides being way more overpowered (which shouldn't be the way, because it would be just ridiculous if normal monsters suddenly get a power-up.)
A question that they haven't addressed yet, besides the main plotline about Miina Isurugi's grave and the whole secret of the island, would be what will happen to Arita Kouhei and Hades. I'm sure that they will play a significant role in the future of the manga, the author has shown that he doesn't forget tiny details on what happened even a 100 or so chapters before.
