I think they mean a deal for the Ghibli anime films. Was that on SBS? Anyway, that kind of lets you know why the North American licensee wasn't able to toss the Australian streaming license in for free ~ there's a market in Australia, and for countries where there's a market, the streaming rights are normally split off with the country broadcast and/or cinema rights. dlusion wrote: I kinda wish crunchy roll was pure anime.. so they could spend there budget on all anime, Iv watched most of the anime within less than 2 months time and ready to move on to another site soon =/. I'd come back possibly but I was looking for a anime only site. If anyone knows of one with a cheap sub fee or free send me a PM. Except if Crunchyroll was anime-only, it would probably have less anime than it does now. That is, there are people who are totally or mostly into watching anime, people who are totally or mostly into watching dramas, and people who are into a mix of the two. And when Crunchyroll attracts a member to watch dramas, who then also watches some anime, that means more viewer for the anime series. More viewers for the anime series means more series cover their minimum guaranteed royalty payment and pay extra royalties on top of that, and also means that Crunchyroll can offer higher minimum guarantees, both of which make it easier to sign anime series. And after all, that's why Crunchyroll has gone from five or six simulcast series to simulcasting over half the anime series broadcast in Japan ~ because the growth in membership lets Crunchyroll pay royalties that attract the interest of the Japanese production committees. While Crunchyroll is the leading legit simulcast site, its probably only third in terms of its back catalog. If you are looking for catalog titles, Hulu has the most subbed among the legit sources, and Netflix has the most dubbed among the legit sources, and for the bootleg sources its easy enough to find leech streaming sites by googling around. |
