What genre/type of music do you think is most underrated?

In my opinion I would say C-pop is the most underrated because people don't really talk much about it. More people seem to like J-pop or K-pop than C-pop. Yes, I admit that I am a fan of all three of those genres I mentioned.

My fav C-pop song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib5K7DJvRww

Here are the genres/languages of music i listen to:
Japanese
Chinese
Korean
German
Spanish
English

Everything above, and country. In any "about me" forms of interest in music, I see a lot of people say,
"Anything except rap, or country." Or "Anything but country. Oh god. *gags.*"

Depends on the country singers I guess. Kris Kristofferson, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Charlie Daniels and all were really great. Toby Keith and company are pretty terrible. (IMO)

drone metal

lots of people like atmospheric music but I hear the same people say that they don't like drone metal because it sounds like the artists just strum one chord for 1 hour. while this may be true, I must say that I take a strange interest to electric guitar feedback and when manipulated just right it can make very awesome noises.

Hardcore music, and Japanese Hardcore.

They're super catchy tunes with fast beats, and not a lot of people seem to know about it.

It's really hard to say what genre is the "most underrated" these days. I guess really the most unpopular (underrated) music world wide is probably the genres with hardcore elements, or indie (NOT saying indie as in no one as heard of them but indie as experimental) vibes to them. Generally I think this because the mix of generes doesn't turn out so great.

The truth is pretty much most genres have a pretty great following. So what I'm saying I suppose is you should be more specific with your question e.g

"What is the most uncommonly listened to style of (or genre if you don't wanna sound stuck up like I am right now lol) music in America?"

Since asking what is the most underrated genre of music will only have highly speculative and objective answers. Unless of course you were looking for the more specific views of your piers. Then by all means disregard what I've posted lol and I'll go sit in my corner.

In that case I would probably have to say something like ya, foreign music, regardless of wether its j-pop or middle eastern music.
