Imo, the most saddest anime ever-Wolf's Rain.
It was the first anime which made me cry so hard....I literally bawled my eyes out after watching it. ;~; |

You're absolutely right, because this was based off a true story. They guy felt responsible for his sister starving to death or something like that, and made it. |

Ano Hana was pretty sad. Clannad After Story was only sad (to me) when
Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Tomoya fixed his broken relationship with his father. The deaths didn't really faze me. |

I'm surprised that no one has put Dusk Maiden of Amnesia :(
I just finished it right now, and i had to wipe my tears and boogers for that show. the Very last ending kinda ruined the sad mood, but it was more of a happy thing to me. not others liked it that much, but you'll just have to watch it yourself to know what I'm talking about. |

Rumbling Hearts, although I haven't seen grave of the fireflies yet.
Rumbling Hearts ruined my week though. It was VERY sad, but you have to get to like episode 6 before you start to get the full effect of how tramatic it is. I think the thing that made me so sad/mad was the fact that the main character is SO indecisive, and he made it drag on and on and on till the point where I wanted to shoot myself, but was forced to keep watching to figure out how it ended, and he was such an ASS at times, and so god dam romantic at other times, and so sweet, and so EVIL at other times. AAAHHH!!! I wish he could have just picked a personality and stuck with it! would have saved me a heart attack!! |

Texhnolyze leaves you depressed and devoid of any joyful emotions, does that count?

I used to think Wolf's Rain was the most depressing anime I've ever seen. But as of last night it was outdone by Hakuouki... They killed all my favorite characters.

Anohana, Clannad After Story, and Grave of the Fireflies totally messed me up in the sad depressing anime category
