_When looking over a map of Japan, one may overlook the small town of Tokushima. If you think you’ve seen it, you’re looking at the wrong one. This wild love story takes place in the other Tokushima, which is a much smaller town with little outside contact. It doesn’t mind keeping to itself, and its citizens don’t mind the way it handles certain matters. In this town, the ratio of children to adults is much higher than it should and therefore they are needed to take up more responsibilities and also given more freedom to do so. As one may imagine, a town where children have more power than they should cannot be anywhere close to perfect. The other, little, unknown Tokushima, Japan is definitely not perfect.
_Like other much larger cities, Tokushima has a very serious gang problem that is either well-hidden or ignored. The two gangs, of course, are made up of minors that attend one of three schools in the town, Kusa Middle School. It should be mentioned that the other two schools are an Elementary and a High School. How this pair of gangs came to be and have survived for so long has since been forgotten, but they continue to fight for rights to property, possessions, and even peace of mind. One of the two, The Panthers have been known to be the more savage of the two while the other, The Wolves are the more family-like, protecting and caring for one another as such. They also share an odd tradition to weaken one another…
_One side will choose someone outside the two gang’s as a target to harass, and if this target is chosen wisely, it will force the other side to use some of its resources and own safety to protect. Over the years, this target has been come to be known as a Princess, confirming that it has always been a defenseless girl without real knowledge of the gang wars. This proves to be a great disadvantage for the Wolves, due to their family-like behavior with one another and strangers. The Panthers simply pick the most helpless little damsel they can find and make her royalty among their enemy. For the Wolves, choosing a Princess for their opponent is a more difficult task usually taking weeks to decide. The last Princess they chose for the Panthers took less time, however, because they found the new leader of the Panthers had a younger sister. It only made sense.
_Due to their last Princess leaving small town Takushima by the end of summer, the Wolves have been waiting for their next Princess to be chosen. It is a new school year, the last for most, and it has been almost a week and a half since school began. Wolf leader Kuyaa has been dreading the most on whom the Panthers may choose, racking his brain for what girl would be even more vulnerable than the last, as the pattern had been. The first thing he would do in the morning was scan a few pages of Kusa Middle School’s yearbook from the previous year. He came to a few possible candidates, but he knew he wouldn’t be able to make a correct guess unless he somehow stumbled upon it with luck. Even he did pick what would be the feeblest of the girls; the Panthers may have drawn a different conclusion.
_Kuuya was fourteen, blonde, and at a nice height for his age with a strange shade of brown eyes that would shine red in light. His hair was never combed and he usually wore a sleeveless, brown jacket over his school uniform shirt instead of the one given to him. The school wasn’t particularly picky about the dress code, but it didn’t hurt to have a father whom was the Vice Principle. His multiple ear piercings were a different story. Recently he had his lip pierce and was forbidden from anymore. Looking into the mirror, he wondered why anyone wouldn’t want to decorate their body. He shrugged off the world’s stupidity and began gathering his things into his backpack. As he did so, he scribbled a few answers to his homework and rushed down the stairs. His father had to be at the school well before the students, so Kuuya had to drive himself to school. One may question why a fourteen-year-old is able to drive, but one must remember that Tokushima is an odd town.
_While throwing his backpack into the passenger seat of his beat-up black Sedan, Kuuya noticed a letter poking out from his mailbox. The mailmen didn’t come around in the morning, and he was sure he brought in the mail from yesterday. His heart then sank to his stomach as he came to a very possible conclusion. He walks to the mailbox, feeling as if he were walking across a vast battle field with a bulls-eye marked on his forehead. Sighing heavily and shakingly when he reached it, he cautiously opened the small door all the way and pulled out the letter. On the front had the handwriting of the leader of the Panthers, Itsuki, saying, “Good Morning, Dog!” Ignoring the insult, he ripped the envelope open and scanned the letter.
_ It didn’t say so, but Kuuya knew the information written on the page was of the Wolves new Princess. Her name was Miyagi, Akiko, birthday was October ninth, age was twelve, height was 4’ 3’’, blood type O, and there were numerous other little details. Kuuya shook his and mourned over the picture of poor Akiko. A sweet, innocent face and dark brunette hair braided in two separate strands smiled shyly up at him. Her bangs were cute just so they wouldn’t cover her soft eyes, and he knew at that moment he would be seeing them in tears at one point. He didn’t know if he could take it any longer, so he swore right then and there nothing would happen to her. After folding the letter and picture and placing them in his pocket, Kuuya jumped into his Sedan, started it up, and raced off to Kusa Middle School.
_He was fidgety and paranoid during his first two classes, watching the clock like a hawk though he knew it wouldn’t help time pass faster. The whole time he mentally kicked himself for forgetting that a new student had joined Kusa this year. He had only focused on the girls he already knew of, because it was a rare thing for Tokushima to see new faces. When the bell finally rang for Eighth grade lunch, he was the first one out the classroom and speeding through the halls. When it finally began to fill with other students, he searched for two very distinct members of the Wolves. He had chosen a pair of bodyguards as soon as the last Princess left, as it was pretty customary to do so.
_He managed to chase down the two and bring them to the same lunch table, making sure that no one else except for perhaps a few other Wolves sat with them. He hadn’t allowed them to get their lunches, instead having another member kindly volunteer to. He smiled at the friend then turned to the two Wolves in front of them, glaring intently, making his face almost unfamiliar to them. Closing his eyes, he sighed one more time before taking the letter out of his pocket, unfolding it, and placing it in front of them. He said in a very somber tone, “We have our new Princess… and we must find her before 3 pm when school is out and the Panthers start their hunt after her.” He opened his eyes with a bit kinder, sadder look in his eyes, which was also uncharacteristic, and waited for their responses.

One of the two bodyguards, a fourteen year old male has a scrawny but tall physique even as he sat, bright blues eyes, and dark hair with a tint of a dust blue from dying it so many times before. His name was Mie, Tetsu. He wore a light, black jacket over his own uniform shirt, giving him a more modest look as he leaned over the table. He had been the same bodyguard from the previous Princess, and he knew personally what had gone wrong then. Like Kuuya, for Kuuya, he was determined not to have a repeat of last year as he read over the letter and stared at the face of the Panthers' new victim. With a slender hand, sleeve drooping over his small wrist, he touched the corner of the picture and said softly, "She looks... so young for Twelve..." He retracted his hand, sitting back in his seat and folding his arms together as he continued to stare at the picture in silent disbelief. He knew the girl, Miyagi-san, was new to the school and the letter said she was in eighth grade, but he couldn't recall if she was in any of his classes.

The sounds of hoarfing of food gave reply to the new news, the second body guard appearently had stopped listening right when her food was set down infront of her. She didnt mean any disrespect by it it was just how this girl behaved, she couldnt help that she had the attention span of a mere seven year old and was easily distracted by small things. After taking notice of the silence she finally took a moment of her time to look up at the two, with a single spaghetti noodle still hanging from her mouth. She looked down at the file in front of her and then held up her pointer finger at them; after telling them to wait a second the girl slirpped up the noddle into her mouth "Mmnm...So...mm," the new body guard began, then paused still eating the food in her mouth, and after swallowing began again, "OoOoo! she's so pretty! You want us to protect this girl from now on? Sounds like it will be fun!! Finding her is like cake, we can find out where-" unfortunately before she could finish she was cut off by a quick announcement from the cafeteria lady regarding information about how they were still serving pudding. Upon hearing this her dusty purple eyes lit up like the stars and she immediately turned back to her companions saying "One sec!!". Before her new partner or boss could say anything about it the girl had sprang from her seat and ran over to the lunch line to get herself pudding. It didnt take her very long, this girl had very long legs that gave her big strides and made her tall; she was even as almost tall as her new friend Tatsu. She bounced in place as she waited for her turn, dead set on getting that pudding cup when she looked down and saw them. These adorable pink converse shoes that matched the color of her long hair, which she had dyed only two days ago. "Oh my god! your shoe's are so cute!"and just like that the girl had completely forgot about her pudding cup and the fact that she had left in the middle of a important meeting. The two began an intense convorsatioin that went from shoes to music to boys and you could see them giggling and bouncing around excitedly.

_"...uh..." Kuuya glanced at Tatsu, refusing to second guess his own decision in picking Momo as a new bodyguard. He decided she just needed some help focusing from a kind friend, so he stood up and held a hand up at Tasu, waving it slightly to reassure that he had this. Going around the table, he stride towards the lunch line to intervene in Momo's conversation with the other girl. He confidently placed his arms around them both, but he only spoke with his new bodyguard. "Sorry to interrupt, but, Momo, it's kinda really, super important we find Miyagi-sama as soon as possible." He drew the two apart as he talked, grabbing a pudding cup behind his back while he did so, two in fact. "I was hoping we find her by the end of lunch since we don't have the hassle of class to deal with. I'd also like to ask if you have any idea where she may be." He held up one of the pudding cups to her.

"Oh! Right! Sorry! You know how I can get sometimes....well If you need to find out where she is then go ask the office silly!" Momo looked up at Kuuya with a huge, bright smile then slipped the pudding cup out of his hand. "Oh and you forgot the soon by the way." She whispers to him as if saying it so other could hear would embarress him. She giggles a little before easing her way out from under his arm and walking back to the table with some sort of skip in her step. "Hey hey!" She immediately goes up to another wolves member and begins a short convorsation with him. The young man nodded real quick and he ran off as Momo turned and sat back in her seat. As Kuuya sat down the young man that had ran off came back holding a spoon out to Momo. "Here Momo! It was....nice talking to you." He comments as she plucks the spoon from his hand. "Yes as it was to you, now run along Jones mkaaay?" She smiles at him but she sounded a bit harsh. Jones nodded again and slipped away back to his seat. "Oh! Jones here! It's what I promised!" she called down to him then flung something shiney in his direction. He caught it no problem and the returned to their own business. Momo after opening her pudding cup and sticking a spoonful of pudding her mouth began reading over the file. "Hmmm....."

_Whistling off his forgetfulness, Kuuya walked backwards and grabbed a spoon around the same time Jones did. Half his pudding was gone when he made it back to the table and casually leaned against. After wiping his mouth, he stated, "Nice idea, Momo-chan, but I'm afraid we would need to speak to the lady at the front desk, who would simply make an announcement for Miyagi. It would tip off the Panthers, and they'll make sure the Princess can't reach us. We can't trust her to search up her schedule for us. She'll say it's a breach in privacy, but she's just too lazy. Unfortunately, my father's also at lunch at the moment." He tapped the underside of the spoon on his bottom lip in contemplation on what they could do.

While the other two talked, Tatsu sunk lower in his seat as he tried to find where in his memories he had seen Miyagi-sama before. It wasn't odd for him to be so quiet, so the others didn't bother or notice him as he did so. Then it came to him, just last period a very young girl had been called on to solve a problem on the blackboard. He hadn't been paying attention, but he glanced at her as she sat back down with a look of disappointment. Looking up, he saw the problem a mess on the board in her attempts to solve it. He remembered that as the teacher erased all her work on board, he resisted the urge to look back at the girl. It wasn't a surprise he forgot her so easily when it was time for lunch, but he now felt a tinge of guilt.
Coming back to reality, he turned to the others with wide eyes, "I know where she is." When they turned to his voice, he jumped slightly at the sudden attention. "I mean... I know where her last class was at least..."

"Well its a start Tastu-chan!!"Momo hummed smiling at him and forgeting the sacred rules of japan regarding honorifics. She quickly spoons the rest of her pudding into her mouth and swallows it down before realizing how rude she was. "Oh! S-sorry, I didnt mean to be rude." She waves both her hands at him franticly in her apology before jumping up. "Lead the way Mie-Kuuuuun!!" she shouts running towards the exit and out into the hallway.

"That's... all right..." Tatsu said a little too late after her. He nodded at Kuuya and they raced out of the cafeteria after Momo, Tatsu easily catching up with her. Pointing to their left, he stated the directions to his last class then they quickly made a beeline down the hallway. They kept a careful eye out for any Panthers following them, which for the time being seemed as if none were interested in their business. Knowing not whether their absence was honestly a work of luck, Tatsu quickened his pace, and they climbed the stairs nosily to the third floor, the highest floor before taking another left. Every few minutes, Tatsu would look over his shoulder, checking for trouble.
When they finally reached the classroom, the door was wide open for anyone to enter and so they did. Inside they found the small girl in the same desk she sat at during class, quietly eating her food. Not knowing how to approach her, Tatsu stood very still, turning his head to Kuuya and Momo for their next move.

_Little Akiko Miyagi had a cheap, store-bought bento box (?) for lunch, which she didn't mind and actually liked. She wasn't very rebellious with her clothing, and she looked like an ordinary school girl. Stopping mid-bite, her mouth open and her chopsticks just in reach of her mouth, she slowly rolled her eyes to the door to see she had company. In a blink of an eye, she stood up and bowed deeply to the three and said, "I-I have permission from the teacher to eat here." She raised her head again, folding her hands behind her back and watched them all stand at the door. Kuuya was the first to walked to her and to sadly find her back up in fear.
_"Oh, um..." he wasn't especially skilled at handling shy girls. He cleared his throat and bowed at her to put her more at ease, stating, "I am Kuuya Arakaki, and these are my friends Momo Ganaha and Tatsu Mie." He lifted his head again and said, "We need to talk to you; it's a matter of your safety." It was then he caught her staring at his multiple piercings with wide, curious eyes, which she then corrected by looking him in the eye. He chuckled it off then continued, "We're a part of gang, and we..."
_"No, thank you!" Akiko snapped, becoming very tense. She avoided Kuuya's advances, scooting around the desk then knocking over a chair in his way. A bit surprised at her tactics, Kuuya jumped back then stepped over the chair. She crawled under the desk, snatching her bag on the way and swinging it onto her shoulder. On the other side, she grabbed her bento box and zoomed past Kuuya to the exit. She dropped her half-finished lunch in the trash then squeezed her way past Momo and Tatsu, stumbling over her words, "I-I don't want to join a... a gang! I'm not cut out for it at all! Please... just leave me alone."
_"Wait, Akiko!" Kuuya ran out the door, waving at her frantically. "You don't understand; let me finish explaining!" The young girl stood at the end of the hallway, shaking her head with her two braids whipping wildly against her face, as she held her clenched fists tightly against her small chest. Opening her eyes, she saw Kuuya walking to her, and she instantly bolted to the right.

"I cant believe you just blurted it out like that! Dont you know how to sugar-coat Kuuya!!" Momo complained Running behind him and keeping good pace. "You want me to cut her off? Im planning on joining track this year!!" She asks him. "Ah, who am I kidding there's no time for that!!"And she ran ahead of him taking the right Akiko had just took but only to clash into one of her teachers and tumble to the floor. "Ooooooow!!" she groaned.
"GANAHAAAAA!!!" You could hear the teacher shout in agner, "GET OFFA ME RIGHT NOW YOUNG LADY!!!" making Momo flinch and stumbles off of the teacher.
"Sorry Watanbe-Sensei...." Momo frowned and hang her head caught in the act. She watched Kuuya and Tatsu quickly run past her.
"NO RUNNING IN THE HALLS!!!!" the teacher called after them shaking her fist. "Children these days.....now where were we Ganaha.....San?" Watanbe turned back to scold Momo but growled in anger at the sight of an empty space. Momo had escaped while the picking was good and took a different way around. She ran down the corridor, down some steps, then took a right, out the door into the court yard. She looked up and could see Akiko run across into the other part of the building. "Now are you going to escape through the garden or through the lunch room....." Momo asks as she takes off to cut her off.

Tatsu was slightly ashamed in letting Akiko squeeze past him and Momo so easily, then again, it wouldn't have helped to simply hold her down and force her to listen. He had a horrible habit of looking back, but he was glad he did to see Momo slip from the teacher's eyes. Placing his eyes forward again, he quickened his pace to surpass Kuuya then pivoted his body so he skidded to a stop at the end of the hallway, facing the correct direction to immediately begin running again. He spotted Akiko halfway down the hallway and sprinted forward at great speed. He reached her before she could reach the stairs at the corner of the building, gaining an advantage where he felt couldn't be put to his usual use to tackling the target.
Instead, he twisted his body so that he was now running backwards and planted his feet at the top of the stairs. Before he could fall back into a serious injury, he stuck out his arms and grabbed the railing attached to the wall and the one built up from the steps. He bent his knees and turned them to the side, making it difficult for her to duck between his legs and get away. He realized his face was very harsh, as if he were cornering a Panthers and instantly dropped it to a more sympathetic expression. He wondered if she would even notice his subtle emotions towards her.

_"Eep...!" Akiko ran right into Tatsu's chest, blushing brightly as she then hurriedly peeled herself off him. She back-stepped as fast as she could only bump into an incoming Kuuya, whom was already worn out from all the running. He placed his hand on her shoulder and hunched over out of breath. He chuckled a bit and patted the shivering Akiko's back as she tried to leave his side.
_"You... you ran all the way around the top floor... to go down stairs that were right next your classroom! Either your very devious... or very... silly!" he laughed, straightening his back again. He frowned, however, as he watched Akiko wave her hand behind her to paw her way to the rail at hip height that walled the opening for the stairs that traveled back and forth to the lower levels. She placed her heels on the bottom of the rail, which was an inch or so off the floor, and her backpack slipped over the rail, still on her shoulders. Gripping the railing, she leaned back some to further distance herself from the two boys. Sighing heavily, Kuuya held up his hands to show he meant her no harm, and he didn't dare come any closer to her. "Look... Akiko-chan..."
_"Y-You don't know me... don't call me that, Arakaki-sama!" she squeaked, tightening her grip on the rail. She looked slightly paler, as if her temperature was dropping dangerously all at once.
_"I'm sorry, Miyagi-sama," Kuuya corrected, waving his hands to her to keep still. "Just listen, we're here to help you. We have your best interests at heart right now. For example, please get off that rail and away from the stairs..."
_"D-don't come any closer..." she stuttered, going wobbly at the knees.
_"Okay, okay!" he insisted, stepping back again. "Look, we are not that ones you should be afraid of. Far from it. We're... we're the good guys, honestly!" Akiko looked over Kuuya carefully then turned her head to Tatsu, whose face looked just as kind. She loosened her grip on the rail slightly and nodded at the blonde to continue. "We're in rival with another... gang..." he watched her for any changes, only going on when he was sure to. "They want to hurt you, and we only want to protect you from them. We want to be your friends, Miyagi-sama."
_"Fr...friends?" Akiko's eyes flashed worriedly between the two of them for any indications of lying. "Why... why does this other gang want to hurt me? What did I do to them...?" Her voice began to crack, nearing tears as she tried to pull herself together.
_"You didn't do anything, sweetheart," Kuuya said gently. "It's their... and our way of weakening one another. We're happy to welcome you to our little family, though." He took a step forward, watched her reactions, then walked even closer to her. He held a hand out to her in warmth, "We're the Wolves, I'm the leader, and I don't mind if you just call me Kuuya. Let us protect you..." Akiko stared at his hand the entire time, then looked up at Kuuya's good-natured eyes and smiled. She gave a shaky, cold hand, brushing his before her eyes widened in panic. She dropped her hand and slowly leaned back again, and with the weight of the backpack on the other side of the railing, her body flipped backwards over the rail and she began to fall.
_"Akiko...!" Kuuya's voice echoed down the stairwell. He jumped forward, throwing his body on the rail and grabbed Akiko's small ankles. His face turned a bright shade of red as her skirt fell with gravity and revealed her pearly white panties with a cute mouse on it. "Uuuuhh... Oh, God...!" The weight of Akiko's backpack was making it difficult to pull her back up. "What classes is she taking...?!" He turned his head away and tried to hold on as best as he could. "Tatsu, a little hand here!"

Momo could hear the three from the bottom of the steps and looked up beginning to climb the stairs a bit out of breath. When she hit the second level she could see Akiko's head right above her, which startled her and made her jump back. "oh!!! Ooooh im to tired to handle frights..." she groaned. She huffed looking up the other two floors and began making her way up. "Momo....is tired." she announces to them and collapses against the wall, sliding down with her back against it, and sat down on the floor. She watched Tatsu help Kuuya with Akiko as she tried to regain her breath

Tatsu gave a single nod to Kuuya, noticing Momo out of breath down below. He jumped over the railing of the first flight of stairs, landing right next to Momo with two light taps. He held out his arms and right when Kuuya finally lost a hold of Akiko, he caught her in a bridal hold. The backpack slipped off and fell down the second flight of stairs to the second floor. Following it soon after, Tatsu stuck his foot out and adjusted the backpack slightly against the wall then gently laid Akiko down. He supported her head with the backpack and brushed a few stray hairs from her face, sighing silently.
"She passed right out..." he placed one hand on her forehead and the other on his own to compare. "She's not sick... Do..." He turned to the others, "Do you think she'll wake up...?"
