Funniest Anime?

For me there are different kinds of funny so it would be a matter of which one does the best job at those particular kinds.

Seitokai Yakuindomo and Hayate the combat butler - Always leaves me happy and chuckling with a very warm and fuzzy feeling. There aren't any scenes where I'll burst out laughing, but I'm smiling the whole way through. There's only so much warm and fuzzy I can take in a row though and after a season or two I need to take a break from it for awhile.

Gintama and Cromartie Highschool - These are the series where I'll burst out laughing unreserved. It's a burst of extreme laughter and they contrast it well with the serious scenes. It's an up and down thing though and once the laughters gone and the ecstatic feeling wears off it's like coming down from a high. Each "hit" has progressively less impact and eventually the comedy just becomes numb and while I can go back after awhile and still laugh a lot, I can never get the same feeling I did from the first time.

Bakemonogatari & Nisemonogatari - There's a few scenes where I've done a spit take, but the strength of the comedy is more in making me grin. There's just something a bit cynical yet loving about the humor in the show which leaves me with a smile that's not always a warm one. Most notably is the toothbrush scene which had me grinning so hard I thought my face was going to split in half. There's something about the balance of harsh yet funny that keeps the humor sharp and sometimes I can revisit a scene and find it even funnier the second time.
