I have an old Fat 60GB with PS2 Backwards compatibility.
It is currently wired to Ethernet directly to my main router.
My provider is RCN and my speed is 35 down/5 up

Currently the App will not play any content. Valvrave The Liberator doesn't play and just gives a black screen. Simulcasts just plain freeze my PS3 requiring a reboot..

Whenever I click on an episode it takes a while to load, and doesn't play without stopping. Sometimes it just skips the episode. It wouldn't let me watch Golden Time episode 3 or any Gintama episode. But it did let me watch a few episodes of Beelzebub and some of the sports anime such as Eyeshield 21 and Knight in the Area.

PS3 - Slim 160gb
I use WiFi usually and it works fine, this only started happening recently. I tried wired but it did nothing. The strength of my WiFi is 100% according to my PS3.
Broadband Modem. Telecom. I don't know my speed.

Crunchyroll always worked fine for me until now. It does crash a few times when I try to load an episode now, but never often.

I have a >3 year old PS3 and CR stopped working on it - but I also noticed other slowdowns on it. Turns out the hard drive was going. I guess CR needs to use the hard drive to run for some reason?

I can't believe almost all of 2013 has gone by and no fix has arrived. Even worse, no moderators have commented or updated the devoted CR users posting here. I remember when they used to be involved in the forums, and would quickly respond to users issues. As of late, if I can call the better portion of a year late, nothing. It's as though they are telling their fan base, screw off, we have better things to do. I hope they are not forgetting the fans who have assisted in making CR what it is today. They had better start making changes, or I will soon become one of the many who are planning on abandoning my CR loyalty (paid subscriber for over 3yrs). Netflix, Hulu and others are starting to vastly improve their anime libraries, and money talks. If I'm not getting what I'm paying for, it's time to switch. You are no longer the only show in town CR. Please fix this and reassure the fans that you are still here to provide them with the best anime viewing available anywhere, and have not sold out to the almighty dollar. I would rather you not have an app on th PS3 at all, instead of putting out a piece of garbage you refuse to fix.

Personally, Hulu is my last resort for anime, as there is no way to watch commercial free. Worse, you pay money to watch on any device, but still get commercials.

I expect either you haven't tried their app on the PS3 or it is better than the app on the Roku. During my trial of Hulu Plus last year, I reverted to watching on my PC, since fast forward and rewind were often slow to respond (too often very slow), and sometimes would lock up the app.

Netflix is an overall superior experience, and they've added subtitle with Japanese audio language for more recent titles. The drawback is that you are unlikely to see titles there that don't have a dub, and you certainly won't see simulcasts.

Netflix has cut their anime library. Its like 1/3rd what it used to be (74~ titles to like 20~ titles now.).

If Funimation updated their site for a user friendly experience id put up with the commercials honestly. Only reason im trying the app on PS3 is because id rather watch anime on my TV. But since it seems to crash every 5 seconds i dont think im going to continue this service and just continue watching it on the 100s of other free commercial-less anime sites that have basically every title including Funimation stuff.

Have you checked lately? I count over 40 titles (after eliminating the ones that are animation, but not anime):

BTW, I got a PS3 (super-slim 250 GB version, which I use in a wired net config) in July, and probably started watching all of my CR anime using it sometime in Aug or so. Yes, I've seen it crash, but very infrequently--usually when going back and forth among titles in my queue. I might see this 1-2 times per week, if that. Futhermore, playback has been almost always stutter-free, unlike when using my laptop over wifi. So, overall, I've been very happy with it.

If you read PS3 forums, there are also plenty of retail games that have crashing issues, so I wouldn't say offhand that CR's PS3 app is unusual. Why do I have little problem with it while others do? I really couldn't say. I know many of you are probably gamers, and how many times do you see on forums people complaining that this game and that doesn't work, and yet you don't have a problem? Or vice versa? FYI, my day job in the past has been in S/W support and sustaining, and I can tell you that even with very detailed memory dump data, finding and fixing bugs is very difficult. Doing the same with zero post-mortem dumps and just people saying it doesn't work must be a nightmare...

BTW, just because you have 100% wifi signal strength does not mean you will have no trouble. Google around and you'll find articles like http://blogs.computerworld.com/wireless-networking/20616/wi-fi-apartment-building . I normally live in a house, set pretty far away from any others, and normally get pretty good wifi performance. I recently visited a friend in an apartment complex, and tried to play an MMO. Even though the wifi unit was about 10 feet from me, I constantly got periods of time when my connection just about dropped. I switched to a wire and voila, problems gone. Wifi, particularly in the 2.4 GHz band, performs very poorly in crowded environments.

As for Netflix, their player is pretty good, but their selection is pretty terrible. Looking at the list posted above, there are very few recent ones. I would have hoped that they could have had a tremendous back-catalog of anime, given how many series they used to carry via DVDs, but really, 40, or even 70 is rather small--if they are touting streaming as their future. And in the case of FMA:B, they don't even have the last 12 eps of the series! Luckily, Hulu had them (and I guess there's something going on with licensing, since Hulu has only the 1st 4 and last 12!) I've never tried H+ as I refuse to pay a sub AND watch ads.

Net flix has only 5 animes available in the UK ( streaming). I'm not sure how other people are getting 20. There selection of of new items is low and the updates aren't much better.

I still subscribe to Netflix though, every time I cancel it they put something on it I want too watch that no one else has.

I haven't seen an update for CR for ages.

Does anyone know what the line up will be in January? Will there be new shows?

Yes, there will be new shows in January, as there are every season (January, April, July, & October).

As for what CR's lineup will be, one can speculate, but at this point even CR itself wouldn't know as it is too early for most contracts to be negotiated and finalized. Based on past history, we will probably start seeing new show announcements after Christmas.

As for what shows will be airing in Japan (and thus the pool CR can draw from), check this topic:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-819519/winter-2014-anime

The first message is kept up to date with recent information. There is also a topic like this created for each season. (There is already one for the spring 2014 season).
