The app is pretty laggy whenever im searching through alphabetical anime and sometimes it randomly closes when i open an episode.

The app crash a lot! whether i am browsing or trying to play an episode. so i have to hard reset my ps3.
And when i succeed playing an episode, it keeps dropping to lower quality.

120gb slim. Wired connection.

The 360 version has issues, but the PS3 version is a crash happy mess. I'll assume that this app isn't used by a majority of the paying subscribers, and that's one reason why fixing it isn't a high priority. Looking at the app as a form of advertising though, its lack of usability isn't going to bring in new paying customers.

I bet the focus is now on the PS4 and Xbox One versions.

Works fine for me, except Jojo's Bizarre Adventure. Freezes at the start.....every...single....time.

Nope doesn't work fine for me. The app crashes, FPS drops significantly, and I get a black scene sometimes. I found that putting anime in queue reduces these probs a bit but they still occur. From 2012 to 2014, these problems haven't been fixed? Get it together CR.

This app doesn't work on my PS3 anymore and it does crash on my brothers PS4.... SO no.. I won't be renewing.... I can handle the ads on my phone and laptop.. thanks for nothing CR..

mine is constantly crashing to xmb or crashing and locking my whole ps3 to where i have to flip the switch on the back, off and then back on again to even get to the xmb, its insanely frustrating having it crash after every episode or as soon as i go into "more videos"

i cant understand how there are so many threads, and soo many posts of people flogging the ps3 app and all its issues that almost every single person has multiple times per use, and they havent released a single patch in 2 years, they should just make the app open source and let us code it instead of sticking us with a bunch of broken code that doesnt work and then running away

I have many of the same problems with this app on my PS3. While Slim 500GB hard drive. However, right now it's currently saying "Unable to load. Try again later."

Is anyone else having this problem at the moment?

Ok. I thought it was just me. I found it highly unlikely as it was just working about an hour or so before that but I'm glad to hear that someone else is having the same problem. Of course, I'm not glad that the problem is there...

I think I'll just stop there.

I can not believe what I'm reading. I recently tried out the premium subscription specifically to watch crunchyroll on my PS3 and noticed how flaky the app was with the constant hard crashes and random resets. I came on here to see if there was any info on what causes the crashes and when a fix was expected. I'd figured there would be some sort of message from crunchyroll saying they were working on the problem and a fix was due soon. Instead I find this thread that's been going for 2 YEARS of crashes and what appears to be complete and utter indifference from crunchyroll. I was mildly apprehensive about handing money over with how unstable the app was, but after seeing this, I've got to say I'd be amazed if ANYONE ever pays for a subscription to crunchyroll.

Honestly, considering how terrible the service is on the PS3 app, you should be able to stream for free on the PS3. It's nearly criminal to be charging people money for this level of service. If you fix your app so it actually works the way it's supposed to (I have yet to go an entire day without the app crashing at least once and taking down the PS3 with it) then you might think about charging for it, until then you should be ashamed to take peoples money while providing this level of service. I'm also amazed you managed to get this steaming pile past the QA at Sony. I'm seriously tempted to contact customer support at Sony and complain about them distributing such a broken app through PSN.

Paying for premium also gives one those same benefits on other devices and via the Flash player in web browsers, so it isn't as if CR is charging people just to stream on the PS3.

In the "Help!" section of the forum at one point someone from CR noted the app passed through Sony's testing tool, so perhaps you should contact Sony...and complain they need a better testing tool for developers.

Actually I did file a complaint with Sony. The issue isn't the testing tools, I've done PS3 development and the tools although flaky at times (and stupidly expensive) are sufficient to get the job done if you're a competent developer (not really much worse than iOS, or XBox development honestly). However I am very disappointed not only in CR for pawning off this buggy app, but Sony QA for certifying it for distribution on PSN. Clearly someone in the Sony QA department was sleeping on the job when they let this slip through. Ideally I'd like for CR to fix their app and put out a working product, but if not I'd at least like to see Sony pull it off PSN, maybe that will give CR some incentive to fix the app.

For most people the free trial would give sufficient time to experience the app and decide if they should pay for a subscription.

Unless something changed since CR first submitted the app and it was approved, Sony be contractually unable to pull the app.
