Not all are like that but most.

I'm nothing like what you described except for the fantasy world part, my head is always up in the clouds! I have this guy friend who has the most muscles in my school lol. He's a wrestler and quite popular, too. Especially with the girls. But guess what? He loves anime. He even draws anime (and he's really good)! But there are many whom are quite strange.

I remember my friend who also likes anime took me to an anime club at this library and...there were some quite odd people. Especially this one German guy who said he loved Nazi's since his grandfather was one and had a bunch of conspiracy theories about the Holocaust and government and yada yada. He was quite a character. But whatever. It was fun and friends were made. Geek, loner, weirdo are all ways people perceive others. It shouldn't matter what other people think of them, if you get along with those kind of people, so be it. Anime is a great hobby for people to bond with. If you like it, you like it. Doesn't matter what others think.

Personally, I'm convinced that it's the people who take their normalcy as a badge of honor are the weirdest of us all, and that their conformity is what makes them special. It's my experience that traditional high schools, suburbia and reality TV audiences suffer greatly from this celebration of sameness, more so than what is typical in the surrounding population.

I don't see the appeal of being normal. I imagine that it would be quite dull and uninteresting.

whats it matter if some 1 acts weird or a little different whats wrong is to think your normal when no1 is normal and no1 is perfect its maybe more about how others treat each other y cant ppl just get along and not care what others think of them

There are 6+ billion varieties of full-spectrum definitions of what's weird.

Just saying.

This. The girls in high school that wore cat ears and otaku'd it up in the library during lunch time seemed "weird" to me, despite being into anime myself. That said, they could've been some of the best friends. We'll never know now, but "weird" doesn't have a hard definition so it's difficult to grasp the context of weird the OP was going for.

@kobebryant123 I definitely understand where you're coming from dude. All of my friends don't like anime, and have been trying to find some people that do to be friends with.lol but the funny thing is that when ever I do find someone that is into anime they are painfully awkward -_-. If you were to just see me on campus or on the street, you would never suspect that I'm into anime, even though I enjoy anime a lot whilst not being socially awkward. Just like how someone else has already mentioned there are those who enjoy anime and those who let anime control their lives, same applies with all other hobbies/ interests.
With that being said, does anyone here live in Los Angeles,CA ?lol shoot me a message..

It really depends on the person and what they consider weird.
In my opinion, anyone that doesn't watch anime is weird!

Personally I love anime, manga and music from Asia but it doesn't make me a loser.

Probably the people you've seen are maybe social outcasts originally, and happenly found the love of this vast culture. You can't stereo-type everyone just because you've seen a few people with the same traits.

Also stop being fake in front of your friends, it's not worth it. If they don't like it tough luck, your not a cookie cut out.

I like weird. Being weird is cool. People who aren't weird wouldn't understand what weird is. Weird. Sometimes I mistake weird for cool. Isn't that weird? I guess its cool to be weird! Right? No? Yeah? Watching anime? Yup, pretty weird. But when you think of the concept. Those people who watch those shows on MTV? Like Gossip Girl and shit? Yeah they're just as weird as us! So when you think about it.

...we're all weird. just in our own unique ways. Weird.

For me to be honest I keep it low-key. When they had the anime club in high school I was ecstatic but everyone there was just..weird. Mostly because everything they did was about anime even outside the club. But I do know a couple guys who watch Naruto. And I got a good friend of mine on anime. We're just two average schmoes who like anime but other stuff too! Like eating lmao.

People that hate anime and think it's for geeks with no lives are narrow-minded.
