Yes and No xD.

people gotta accept who they are, stop hiding your love for anime, people will understand,

so what if they think you're weird? Everyone's weird.

In my school, everyone knows I love anime, but people don't mind since i'm not anti social nor do i only talk about anime 24/7
And there are lots of anime freaks like me around school who participate in school events and are social and don't seem like your term of "weird"

And people should, by now, have a indifferent mind about otakus, since not only otakus watch Attack On Titan <3 xD.

Anime just doesn't come off as "nerdy" anymore, and if it does, being a nerd or geek is considered mainstream today anyway.
Lots of people adore South Park and Family Guy, even though they bore me. I enjoy Anime and they're still cartoons just for different tastes.

I admit a LOT of anime fans tend to have a strong desire to BECOME anime....and let's just say they don't all pull it off. Things like Cosplay, I notice most of the fans are "homely" while fans of western cartoons seem to look like models. It makes no sense but it's just a fact. I know that part is irrelevant but just confuses me.

It really depends on where you are.

Places like say school or college can range from social, outgoing yet "cool" anime fans that everyone wants to hang out with to the socially awkward "weirdos". The "cool" fans, however, can be harder to find because they either keep their love of anime a secret or they simply don't express their love for it as much as others.

Anime conventions can be a little easier to find the "cool" guys(for obvious reasons), but you will mostly find people that can be considered weird to non-anime fans.

In my opinion, I don't think it should really matter on who's considered "weird" or not. As long as the person can be fun to hang around with and is very respectful to others, he/she can be at least be given a chance antisocial or not. People that don't wanna befriend anime fans cuz their "weird" sounds very close-minded imo.

If you're a teen/adult who is attracted to prepubescent girls, even animated ones, you need to get help. Jesus, this kind of thing doesn't help the "not all anime fans are creeps" argument...

I don't entirely agree to your views since my friends are actually NOT anti-social nor do they fit in any of the categories you described yet they watch a lot of anime. I actually have a lot of other friends that watch anime here and there whenever they feel like it. The closest one to being an otaku amongst my friends would be me but even I don't think I'm nowhere near the japanese depiction of a stereotypical otaku. I pretty much watch a lot of anime and read manga, but that's about it. Oh, and I also started going to anime conventions (Youmacon in Detroit) where people cosplay if that says anything. It's actually pretty cool.

Really, anything can be made weird and disgraceful if taken to a radical place. I'm not one to say I absolutely adore anything to the point of submission, mainly because nothing gives me such intense feelings. I've come to really enjoy anime mainly because it's in abundance with wide-spread themes, along with animation styles and genres that are pure gusta for me that I can't find in hardly any non-anime animation.

Furthermore, I don't recall ever hearing about a situation where anime-fans raided the streets of a populated city, demolishing public property, injuring and even killing citizens and other fans alike, and yet I've heard that tale countlessly with sporting events. Then, you take the mosh-pits at concerts, and all other forms of extremism that comes from "loving" something too much; I put "loving" in quotations because you really have to wonder if it's anything positive at that point of radicalism.

So, in the end, to each their own; as long as someone isn't shoving their ecchi items in my face with a knife next to 'em, I'm fine.

just own it man if your friends think your weird then their not your friends, if they like to watch "Family Guy, The Simpsons, ECT.." then their weird themselves, those are American cartoons, and anime is just Japanese Cartoons, only anime has better art and stories, remember back when video games first came out only "nerds" played them, now every body plays them.

I'm with no1special here.. everyone is quirky in their own ways and if they won't acknowledge that and are calling you things like "weird" etc then they really aren't your friends
