I'm scared shitless. I'm 9 hours from home in a city I know nothing of. I'm not that great at starting conversations either :/ It's only been 2 days and I'm homesick. I loved my life before college. Now I feel impending adult hood upon me, and the pressure to do well in class, make friends, join clubs, and all that jazz.

Any advice on how to deal with these feelings?

I start college in 2 days too! I'm an incoming freshman. I just want everything to go nice and smoothly. College isn;'t like HS... is much more mature and you meet all type of people.

You'll find out there's really nothing to it tbh. I do admit I felt the same way when I first started but it's sort of like high school but more adult-like and professors may or may not mostly not care what you do like show up or do your work, they mostly just fail you without even caring who you are. Anyway, it's not all the same in every school of course but if you look around you'll see how the culture is around campus and you'll quickly adapt to it.

The great thing about college is you find your kind of people pretty quick as you'll most likely be come across the same courses. It really is no big deal after the first couple of weeks. You'll soon forget about it and feel cool cuz you're in college~

The first time I didn't go home until 3 am was when I realized I was really not home anymore. If you liked sports, language, drawing, etc. in high school, then find a class on that. Extra classes are nice and you can meet people with similar interests. I took french because I took it in high school. Through someone I met there, I was able to meet my bf that I've been with since 2004. Remember to set alarms.

I can't help but feel uneasy and restless when thinking of the new atmosphere I will be placed in soon. I'm frightened by my future responsibilities. I fear that I'm unprepared for maturing into an adult.

ya today was my first day in college and I moved into my dorm, I was very nervous but when I finally got moved int and talked to a few people I feel somewhat fine, although I will have to adapt to living in the dorm instead of home (I got 3 other room mates hehe) but the thing is though, I also suck at being social, so I am just going see if there are any interesting clubs for the school, and find people with the same interests.

First time at college right?

Well, I've been there. It's actually alright first year with 12 or 15 units/full time student because most of the classes you take are major prep. So, the first year is likely the easiest (imo). I took 15 units/5 classes during my first semester and made it pretty well. I think it's just about good time management in general as college professors assumes that you can take the responsibility.

But ya, first semester should be a breeze (at least imo and from the experience I got)

Sophomore year and later on though gets a bit harder as you have to take the courses to satisfy the requirements for your degree as well as graduation. Some of them have prerequisites so it's important to check what courses to take with a guidance adviser/counselor beforehand.

Now that I think about it..first year college was fun and easy for me.

College was honestly some of the best times of my life. Don't try to do everything all at once. It's easy as long as you take the time to appreciate everything about the new atmosphere. The only thing to remember is to manage your time wisely. By that, I mean that you will all of a sudden have all this time to do absolutely anything you'd like. Try not to get carried away. The professors will expect you to behave like an adult and will treat you like one, which I thought was one of the best things about it. Just take things one step at a time and don't be shy about asking for help. You'll find that most people will happy to help, and friends will come naturally. The one thing I do recommend about college is try to find something you love. You're here to learn and prepare for a career that you will pursue for the rest of you're life. Find out what is that you're looking for. You don't have to find right away either. Just keep your eyes open
