Runescape. Only problem is that it's vastly different from what it used to be as far as I know.

I would of Recommended Runescape if it had'nt changed from the whole "Oh we dont want real world trading to infect the very souls of our players" to "Gamble to win" I hate when childhood games get ruined, A good RPG game i know of is Realm Of The Mad God, Its played in the browser or downloaded off steam, Very fun and enjoyable but be warned, When killed you must start all over again. Good luck ^^

I'd recommend Fiesta by Outspark games anime style graphics, has pvp and pve. Lots of quests and good online community on there. Its fun It has a browser version available. http://fiesta.outspark.com/

Well I would say Aion, but it requires a good sized download, but for what you get it is a better example of Free to Play.

i did have runescape first one a friend stole it bye bye santa hat second 1 les lvl 98 but allot of good stuff i stopped playing for years and forgot bank code and paaword but i recamend it

The best browser based game is Runescape, really, there's no question. It's been around so long that it's just so detailed, jam-packed with stuff to do that it's the biggest time sink anyone could ever possible hope for. Not only that but it's full of players and always has been.

If you're looking for something which isn't so RPG or grind based, you're stuck. There just aren't a great deal of them that are browser based, however Runescape fills all your criteria.
