With conventions such as Make-out [insert location here]; I'm very sure they have been hinting at teenagers participating in sexual activities for a long, long time. The whole "abstinence education" is actually a pretty modern thing, and even the Victorian era, which is considered a prudish era, was a very pervy era. It just wasn't talked about back then. And, it was in the late 1800s that the age of adulthood went from 14, to 16, and finally to 18 years of age. It's just, to me, a little bit silly to think that at any time period the age group that we now refer to as teenagers never fooled around. NOTE: I also would like to say that it was in the Victorian era that the concept of a childhood came into being.
