My husband was actually the one into gaming when I met him. I was fairly shy myself, but he would play with me watching for hours, just because I enjoyed being around him and our conversations. Then he realized it must be boring sitting there watching him kill things on the game, and made a character on another account for me to play with him and started teaching me.
Once we started playing, I tended to be very talkative to other players and eventually started making a tong of online friends...and since I was female, I guess it was easier for me to become friends with other female players. At one point, the clan that my husband and I ran on Lineage 2 had at least 15-20 female players - alot of them couples that had met through the game and then went out to meet eachother in real life. And eventhough we don't play very oftern anymore, we still have most of those people we became close with as Facebook pals. I know of at least 3 of the couples who got married after we met them online 8 years ago.

As for anime, I was introduced to anime from my dad, but picked up interest once talking to clannies about it in game. My husband can't stand it. He always gets annoyed when I go on a spree and sit and watch for hours (or days). I think he feels neglected sometimes, but he loves me and understands it is something I like, even if it isn't something he enjoys.

Anyways, it isn't always necessary to like or love the hobby of the person you like - as long as you respect and care about the person, their hobbies may or may not interest you too in the process. But if you love the person, it won't matter in the end. Good Luck!

I've always liked video games, but growing up I mainly watched my older brother play them and that's about it. When I met my husband, I found out that he REALLY enjoyed playing video games and had a pretty impressive collection. He also watched anime. I thought it was cool even though I wasn't into them that much. I loved his passion for both and as a result, I started watching anime and playing video games with him. I'm a huge fan of gaming and anime now, even though I didn't start out that way with him. Sometimes really being into someone, you just rub off on one another.

I love anime and games. But now the guys where I live treat me like one of them and not like a girl. xD I don't mind so much, though, since I don't like any of 'em as more than a bud~
