I am a girl (IRL too) and I know quite a few girls IRL who are into anime and video games who together would most probably cover the entire spectrum of what you could have in a girl. I think starting with anime or video games is a bad place to start in a chat unless they are talking about the subject already. It's better to ease in by talking about other things.

Have you tried any anime societies or groups around?

Oh and just incase of 'you must be ugly' bashing, I'm married.

Thanks the important thing is to just keep doing what you love and eventually someone will come into your life that will share what you love...even if they dont exactly love it as much as you. Perfect example is football. My husband loves football...me not so much. But I would watch some games with him cause he liked it and eventually I found that if I played fantasy football I could enjoy the games better. I still don't watch every game with him...and truthfully the closer we get to the superbowl the less I seem to watch (weird I know) but I try lol. And even if you meet a girl who's not into anime...she might just give it a shot or humor you once in awhile lol

What you should ask yourself is why do you want a girlfriend? If you feel as if you need a love interest because you're incomplete, then you're on the wrong track. You need to feel whole when you're alone, to be happy with one's self. You should want a relationship, not need one.

If you aren't happy with yourself, nobody will be happy with you. If you don't love yourself, you aren't worth being loved by anyone else because you will never believe them which creates distrust and then they leave you.

I know you want a girlfriend so you can do all that crazy shit that couples do, but be honest with yourself, can you handle it? Giving your heart to someone is one thing and it the easier part of the bargain. To receive someone's heart, to take care of it and cherish it and treat it like your own is the difficult part. So just ask yourself, do I take care of my own heart enough to know how to take care of a different one?

I'm not trying to bring you down or anything, just know that love is more complicated than anime and video games.

Protip: You have to work on your smooth-talking and conversation skills man.

She left you an opening.

Do not respond with just "hahah lol." Especially if it's a girl you meet irl at one of those anime conventions.

Just trying to be helpful here.

I think when it comes to the gaming scene, girls just kinda keep a low profile. I know I do cause girls get trolled on by a lot of annoying ass douche bag males.

Anime is obviously different because they're shows. I think when it comes to networking about tv shows its a bit more difficult. But yeah video games. When I try to play on CoD or Halo, lame ass dudes just gotta be annoying and say some very mean things. Guys just don't know the degree of harassment we ladies go through on a daily basis.

Not that I'm asking for pity or anything but just treat us girls like a lady even if we play video games which seems to be a so called masculine thing to do. Just because we do supposed guy activities doesn't mean we want to be treated like a guy. Be gentlemanly on the gaming scene, girls will appreciate it.

Everyone has already given you answers about networking, joining anime clubs. Some girls might be "in the closet" about their anime love. I knew this girl at school and I mean she saw all the anime stuff I owned but never told me she had any interest. Next thing I know I see her all cosplayed up at Comic Con. It was definitely a pleasant surprise.

i honestly dont know why guys do that i dont include myself in that becasue i dont do that if a gilr /woman is playing a video game i think its awesome no need to stay in the closet about games but like you said it can get really annoying so i can understand that

Hmm, how do I explain this.

Say you were waiting in line at one of these anime conventions. And you were talking with a friend who is also waiting in line next to you.

You both talk about how hard it is to find a woman who is into video games and anime, etc.

A cute girl overhears your conversation, taps you on the shoulder and playfully goes "I'm right here!"

You go "hahah lol," say nothing else, and turn around and ignore her.

She left you an "opening" to extend the conversation further, that's what I meant.

There are plenty of cool chicks who watch anime and play games. It just depends on whether you're looking for a girl in general, who plays games and watches anime, or a hot girl who does those things. The hot gamer chick, is indeed a girl so rare she has unicorn status. I meet a lot more girls like myself who are gamers and anime enthusiasts.
As nerds, we don't tend to care much about our appearance. Also, we tend to sit for long periods of time watching anime and playing games, so there's a weight issue as well. For example - I haven't brushed my hair in 3 years. I don't have dreadlocks since I brush it with my fingers, but I have an epic jew fro and I'm proud of it. Also, I'm kind of fat. Not huge, but you could probably line a few skinny chicks up behind me and not see them. I wear Beavis and Butthead shirts in public and I love wearing mis-matched shoes. I'm a jew-fro rocking, chubby, weird, blue/red shoe wearing nerd.
So if you have relatively relaxed standards, you should eventually be able to find a cool nerd chick. Just keep trying and don't settle for anyone less than your idea of awesome. I'm from Kentucky, where nerds are few and far between, so if my husband and I could find each other then there's hope for you too =)

This is one of the reasons I tend to let people think I'm a teenage boy on XBL instead of a woman. I play a few good games with someone, add them on my friends list and then have to eventually delete them because of inappropriate messages. It's always, Kinect Chat invites and SHOW ME UR TITZZZ bull shit. It's annoying and degrading. Now I'll straight up tell a dude, "Hey. You send me any bullshit and I'm deleting you. So if you wanna squad up, that's cool. But if you're wanting pants down, then fuck off." It is very upsetting at times to be seen as nothing more than an object made for sexual gratification. Most of the time it's just annoying, but there are a few cases where it really does hurt my feelings and make me feel like less of a person.
