Not an escape, but part of my life. I truly enjoy it and love to watch it. Sometimes it's even a distraction from my life. haha.

When I was in my teens, definitely. It got to the point where I can watch a series within 2 days. I'm sure most of you can relate.
It was more because of fascination and boredom really, as I didn't have any real hobbies outside the internet. Back then you're just so unsure of yourself you just want that constant stimuli to get your mind off of things. Nowadays, I just want to experiencing new things, travel, meet people, etc. But I still love a good series and video game.

I watch it because I love it, mainly, but it does sometimes help me get away from reality for a few minutes, anyway. Sometimes we just need to watch something to relax or to just get away from reality. After all, isn't that the reason people read books, watch movies or sitcoms, or go make something? I find some animes very soothing, actually.

Some are good for that, if they're very trippy like FLCL, or that Studio Ghibli movie, Spirited Away. Sometimes you watch something and notice you can relate to the plot or characters like Eva, but you have to be very strong of mind to handle it or else it can depress you...

Try watching something nice and happy, like a comedic anime, plenty of those to go around. Peace be with you...

Haven't seen Texhnolyze, I know it's on Hulu! It's like "ghost in the shell" right?
Thanks for recommending it fellow eva fan!

When I was still in college, I would only watch anime or play video games when I had the time or if I was taking a break from studying. So I guess you can say it was a brief "escape from reality" in that regards. But overall, I watch anime and play video games for fun.

Yes, im 19 years old and my life is pure boringness. Im in deep science at school having bad grades but not too bad grades tho. I hate so much school and all those homeworks its crazy. I dont have much friends, and i never do things with them because i seem to not enjoy it much. Its like there was nobody i find really interesting. Never had a girlfriend of my life, never cared much until now. Ive always been a solo kind of guy, not awkward, i can easily socialise and im not shy at all, i just love lonelyness in a way but it does get heavy sometimes. I spend my days and night watching animes and playing video games because its the only time i really feel happy and it get me emotional. When there is school, i go to school, get shit done and get back home in my room and stay late at night. I just dont find life that exciting yet i suppose. There is no passion, no determination, its a bit unfortunate. I dont really care about my family tho im not a monster, i love people and humans in general, i just dont get excited about this whole family thing. So yea, i guess animes is really what gives me a good smile in life. Even tho it sound a bit dramatical and depressing, im far away from being depressed, i have a huge willpower and i do think adventure and action is coming soon. It just feel like i have to share my uncertain sadness sometimes. Animes is something really incredible that i will never put aside. I guess there is a lot of people like me, that just have a none particular exciting life. People like me that wishes the world would have magic, monsters and name it all find themselves bored here. Even that said, i find this world amazing and the entire human race amazing too i cant wait to make changes and help people and put some meanings to my life. English is not my language tho, so sorry.

I could broaden it from anime to the internet in general.

I guess the answer would be yes
Animes presents us with the opportunity to see through the eyes of other people and lets us experience it for ourselves, gotta say life is kind of at a sand still. But then again I sleep a lot, or used to, I once thought it would pass time, however i've came to realise that I was just trying to escape reality ~~

I watch anime not to escape life. I just set-aside my daily stressful life .

Inb4.

Now I watch anime for good entertainment and discover if it has good OSTs. Unfortunately, most anime nao is all about boobies and pantsu.
