I've never liked people or dealing with them, sooo I would attempt to solo the game for as long as I could before being unable to handle it on my own anymore.

Id form a Thieves Guild. With a network of Inns to conduct business, and Pawn shops to cell what i cant spend. Focus on stealth and carry a one hander and a dagger.

I'd be a solo player, informant, and I might try to sell whatever drops I may get.

I would be...
Solo Player - I don't work well in groups. In the rare cases where groups are forced, I work as a carry, initiator, and support
Gotta be the tank - it generally has the maximum survivability in terms of builds. Makes for a slow solo pace though.
Armorsmith - Making your own armor saves A TON of money. I always end up donating everything I don't need or sell for super cheap.
The go to guy - being a collector and an explorer by nature, I tend to know where everything is and have a surplus of most items

based on my behavior from past MMOs

I would be a Solo player that keeps up with the lead to stay leveled

HOWEVER

I would spend the majority of my time being a bounty hunter...capturing or killing players who threaten the lives of others. I would do this because it is a life or death situation so I would do my best to protect people trying to escape until the game is cleared. I feel like that would be a highly effective way to directly save the lives of others...as opposed to being in the lead boss-fights attempting to clear.

I think it's a good idea to differentiate our playstyles in SAO while permadeath is in effect, versus the time after the first arc, when that rule no longer exists. I know I'd play much the same as I posted, regardless, but others' answers may differ, depending on those circumstances.

Well-I'd definitely die if I tried to fight, But we wouldn't want to be just one of the useless towns-sheep,would we? I would definately donn my sexiest avatar and become the best weapon maker in SAO. So all of the best players would come to me for my totally awesome magical weapons as well as the information and rare items I woud broker. Let me tell you that they would pay a handsome price too. Of course, While I couldn't defend against a beater or a high level boss or guild leader, I wouldn't just be a helpless little lamb either. We would have to test and be able to handle the tools we make. Of course, my business partners would all be excellent swordsmen who would be treated very well and fairly and would absolutely adore me and become whirling blades of death if anyone approachedtheir beloved sensei in an inappropriate manner.Sounds like fun, huh?!

I'd over-level in every area I enter before moving on, since it's a matter of survival. It takes longer to gain those levels, but the security is worth it.

I wouldn't want to be on the front lines, but camping in town is boring. I'd probably be one of the many people between the front lines and the towns. I'd solo because that's how I play my games. If I find a nice guild, I'll join, but only after much thinking.

Weapons and combat tactics? I'd probably be using a sword that can be used in either one or both hands. I'd have a style that is half-magic, half-swordsmanship. Maybe I'll also carry a shield to switch into during combat or emergencies. This way I can fight at any range without being at too much of a disadvantage while still being able to defend from nasty surprises. I won't be uber skilled in either of the two, but I'll be able to proficiently use both, at least.

Stats? I'd get a bit of everything. I won't be an offensive powerhouse or an iron wall, but I won't be a fragile bug with no armor. Gotta be well-rounded if you want to survive.

Skills? Same. A bit of dabbling in everything. I can do everything to get by as a solo player.

I would of asked my mommy for her credit card and absolutely destroy the game.

/endsarcasm

If I was in the same position as Kirito which where I had dual blades and beta experience I would try to find a decent guild to call for protection but level up solo. Once things start to get hard I would of found 1-2 people friends around my level range and start taking on levels with preferably 3 people max. Once I know that I can trust the two people around me I will use my dual blades skill and win the game.

If you mean the second part of the anime where you life isn't in danger, I would play support for healing and defense with a great team. If you mean first part of the story, then no, I'm not going back alive i guess
