virtual reality gaming?

Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide toxicblue wrote: I believe that a lot of what happened in Ghost in the Shell will happen in real life eventually, almost religiously. I keep seeing little things that connect man to machine in news articles and it's becoming more and more apparent that this will happen. So yes, I believe that virtual reality gaming will happen, probably within the next 40 years. Probably before it happens scientists will have to understand our DNA and everything about the brain, along with the continuous connection to man and machine. I think the real challenge, however, would be building actual worlds that responded similar to our own. So, in that end, you would essentially have to create the laws of that universe, hence making whoever created it a god. I kind of fangirl about this stuff a little too much. =/ I remember reading an analysis a while back about how binary computation essentially limits how close to reality we can actually get... we'd almost need to invent a whole other way of computing to be able to come close to matching a world like ours. I blame rounding error. |

I would not be an early adapter, already hesitant about the subject and SAO hasn't helped. I would think there would be health concerns from the system such as migraines or elevated blood pressure levels while using it. It wouldn't surprise me if this technology is used far in the future of gaming however likely the test users or people involved in the making would be given physicals or hooked to test machines while using to display if it is safe.

SAO is epic, and so would a full VR experience, tho the oculus would be a great first step i dont think the tech for an SAO scenario would be attainable for a verrrrry long time, tapping into your actual nervous system, or whatever was the reason they couldnt log out, would never happen. But even then, i say it'd be ubertastic! Bring on the VRMMORPG's! who's with me? XD

definitely, we will most likely have it in the next 10-30 years, scientists are learning a ton about nerves and the brain right now.
we can even see peoples dreams through their brains now. Not only that but technology accelerates faster every year, who knows when we will have flying skate boards and stuff. |

I think it's possible. It's just a question of when.
When you look back in the last 50 years, people said things back then would never be what they are now. And now look... Computers Cell Phones Blu-Ray players (when you thought it couldn't get better than DVD) Online Gaming (from the days of dial up) Internet Speeds (from 2800 baud to 1GB) Technology as a whole is always adapting and evolving. I have no doubt that such will someday come to happen. |

A recipe for disaster if you ask me. What will happen when we broadcast a game directly into people's minds? Have you ever watched The Matrix? What if you couldn't tell the difference between the game world and the real world? Think about it.

Full Dive VR gaming I don't see us having for awhile, we will just have to deal with the mediocre VR games for now.

As far as getting close to realistic animation in the virtual reality game, i could care less. im fine looking like a character from sword art online. in fact, ide prefer to look animated not real. but that's just me.

I don't know about SAO, but I really enjoy the concept of virtual reality gaming that's in 1/2 Prince. Honestly, I've entertained the thought of virtual reality games ever since I was introduced to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time when I was 6 or 7. I used to imagine myself in Link's shoes while playing, especially whenever I'd travel through the Lost Woods and Hyrule Field. I even made a project out of it in Career Discovery class during 7th grade, though it's a shame that it will never be widely accessible to the public.

I think that maybe by 2020 we could see the early peak of VR gaming although I wouldn't want to die within the game and never come back xD
