I love anime and have been watching fansubs for a very long time. Certain things would take this site to a place where I don't really miss the days when I was out there searching for subs of new episodes every week.

1. Inverted (proper) Names Mode

Most shows I watched had the names show in the subtitles as they were said. As someone who can speak Japanese, it drives me nuts to hear them say "Uzumaki Naruto" and have the subs say "Naruto Uzumaki". Please make this something I can change in my preferences! I would love you forever.

2. Adult Content Mode

There once was a time when there was adult language in subs. Since I know how the language works, I know that translation has less to do with what is said than how it is said. I love the work you guys do, but if there was a way to make do dual translation on certain scenes and have an adult mode which swaps out the tame verbiage for some that is a little more gritty, you might make more people willing to pay that premium fee.

3. Mark Shows as Watched w/o Having Watched On CR

This really isn't that important, but it would make sense if you read the next request.

4. Show Suggestions

You know what I watch, what I have finished (and perhaps the shows I have watched before CR). Why don't you suggest titles that I might like? I don't even know where to start when looking into the live action shows. Tell me what I should try, and I will (and this might help prevent subscription cancelation as well).

That's all I can think of for now. I would love to hear what others think about my ideas and what ideas that you guys might have too.

Number one is a lot of work for something that very few people probably want. Good translations don't do a literal translation, they localize the translation to the audience to make it more understandable to that audience.

As for "adult" subtitles, CR already has a lot of that WHEN it is appropriate. I've seen the full rainbow of curse words in CR subs and other colorful adjectives. CR doesn't just throw in "adult" words just because they can. (I can name one or two fansub groups that do)

A manual watched feature has been suggested by others and CR has taken note of it. BTW, I recommend using the Suggestions thread for future suggestions.

A suggestion system would be nice but those can be very complicated to do correctly. CR has a stickied thread in the Anime section of the forum where you can ask for suggestions from other users.

Yeah I posted this in the suggestions thread too, then read to realize that the one I found least important was one that others had already asked for repeatedly.

As a programmer I can understand that the invertend names could be a lot of work depending on the architecture used for the subs, but also as a programmer the ability to modularize things like the name (or other components) in a sentence is also very valuable in terms of this sort of customization.

Regarding suggestions, a simple tag based system could be used to aggregate the tags for shows watched (and those associated with shows tried but stopped) and could then aggregate shows that were possibly suitable. Who cares if its perfect initially, as feedback on the system would eventually make it give more accurate suggestions. Just a thought.

There is a tag system already setup so maybe what you described above wouldn't be that difficult to implement. However, I think the library is still too small, especially for people outside of the US, for this system to be useful. (Germany only has like 1/4 the amount of shows the US has)

There is already a similar system setup where under each series is a "Viewers also liked" section but it only lists 4 other shows or less. Maybe CR can just improve what they already have to show more popular shows with people who watch the same shows as you.
