I held a sword once, it was big and hard, and was a little scary because I wasn't quite sure it was going to fit inside the sheath. It was a little snug and it took two of us but somehow we managed to stuff it in there. Taking it back out was a bit of a problem though and I took the brunt of the punishment since I was the one with the sheath. my body ached all over after it was done, luckily the guy I had help me put the sword in the sheath was kind enough to massage me afterwards.

i have a replica katana it does have a sharp edge and i can attest that it does cut things with ease. i pruned my palm tree this summer using my katana you should have seen the neighbor's faces once they saw me walking with it unsheathed i just wanted to see if it was really a toy and would break if i tried to do something like that. to my surprise it cut those palm braches with so much ease that i first i thought i had missed completely until the palm branch fell to the ground
![]() this is what i tried to cut (this is not my palm tree but i did not take pics of the branches i cut off of mine.)not the best of pics... |

all im going to say is a katana is the way to go. a medevial sword is not. to fucking heavy rather use a axe then one of those pieces of crap. so yea light swords vrs heavy we all know who is going to win there. now heavy vs a axe give me a axe. like a friend once said before there is nothing you can do with a sword that cant be done with a axe .

Foam swords... lots of foam swords. I LARP... yes I made myself look like a nerd even amongst a bunch of anime nerds, but hey its fun and I really don't care. As for swords I have picked up some but I have never really have had a chance to swing them around. Have a friend who practices with swords of all kinds am hoping that eventually I might be able to go with him to try it out. Plan on getting myself a katana eventually and a wooden one cause I think the wood ones are pretty cool as well.

Actually there is a major problem with axes and that is that they get hung up a lot. Skill can lower the chances of it, but it still does a lot more than a sword ever would. There is a reason that the sword or a version of it is used by almost everywhere in the world. Plus the fact that an axe is only a slashing weapon whereas a sword may thrust as well. Its also generally faster due to its balance and easier to hit with (larger bladed surface). |

Yes I have, it was a Union Calvary sword from the Civil War. My friend's father bought it in a reputable auction house. The story is that the solider's family held onto the sword until a small privately owned museum bought it from them. The museum went out of business some decades later and they liquidated everything through the auction house. The auction housed claimed the sword cut at least 9 people but they have nothing to go on except what the former museum owner claim.
