WOMEN AND GIRLS why are you so hard on your self when it comes to the way you view your body?
Posted 9/8/12 , edited 3/18/13
As a guy I see women on tv shows, in real life and even on crunchyroll forum post saying how their too tall or short, or hate their legs, thighs, feet, hips and the list goes on and on down to every last deatailed part of their body's. I was dating a girl who was a model, nothing wrong with her at all from where I was looking, but she told me that she is ashamed of her toes and I asked why and she replied "their too fat" and no matter what I said she still thought that her toes were fat and they realy realy weren't .

Ladies no matter how you think you look a guy will find something sexy about you and THATS IS ALL THAT WE NEED to be attracted to you....I know media and magizines hold you to unfair standards of Beauty, but if guys were held to such a thing the magizine company's and media wouldn't make any money due to the fact that we don't realy give a damn what they think so why can't it be that way for you?,even if we tell you your beautiful?? I am in no way trying to beat you down, but I just want you to know that every one of you are beautiful in some way to some guy....and that he will be happy with just you and all of you even your so-called fat toes so believe in YOUR own beauty and back it up with confidence :)

OK this can go the same way for guys ( im a dude btw) . As a bodybuilder , being able to shape and sculpt the body to what you want is amazing if you ask me. I know not all girls try to get jacked or anything but sometimes wanting some abs is ok too, it really pushes your limits and it all comes down to how bad you want it. This of course speaking of ,would be talking about fitness. Other factors like your face , genes, i agree that you just have to accept who you are and be proud of it.

Blame the media, they are merely responsible for making girls think they dont look great enough. Magazines, commercials, etc are telling them they have to look a certain way, be a specific size in order to look great.

So very true how this sometimes can go both ways, but guys will eventually say I got a big nose so what and move on with confidence.

Lots of guys are in the same boat and tend to care a lot about their looks. There's a fine line however between taking pride in your appearance and becoming completing obsessed with yourself and adopting the tunnel vision mindset that looks will make everybody love you. Sure, looks can help you attract others however they won't stay around long if your a wank.

Do you really even need to ask? Look everywhere around you! You can't watch a hamburger commercial now a days without getting an erection, Hardees commercial. You'll soon come to learn this is part of every women and most guys. We all have something we're shamed of or don't like.

It's not as simple as others try to explain.
We for centuries and millennia, have been groomed to believe the only thing we have of value ( and means of survival ) are our looks. It's not the media believe me, this has been for much mooore longer than that, much longer before Clairol and american idol.

Women are given jobs, partners, social acceptance and value given their looks. It's not that we decide how to live, it's because if we don't follow certain rules we can hope to pretty much never move forward.
1 in a hundred guys cares not for what a girl looks like, because the natural look guys claim to like it's actually quite artificial lol. It's not the pretty lady from the tampax commercial with fair skin and seemly "not a trace of make up." All those pretty "natural" ladies spend HOURS of grooming to appear this "natural."

Natural, truly natural girls are...not really the majestic vision of fairy everyone has idealized a woman to be. It may hurt some women who try to hide it, but here we go, all the secrets of women grooming:

Cellulitis/Stretching marks are a fact. A LOT of exercise, treatment, and $$$ is needed to get that shit controlled.
If you forget to keep up with your skin, the skin WILL get angry and do some evil business. No anime skin is natural
we need oil, creams, exercise and massage for a "healthy and smooth" looking skin.

BODY HAIR is a fact, face, legs, breast, every little part had annoying body hair, at least every 30 days that insane shit
needs to be controlled. Trimming or waxing, else one ends up...well hairy, everywhere.

Body Fat is a fact, our hormones are not helpful AT ALL, every 15 days we have radical change in our hormones, we need
diet to maintain a balanced and cosmetic weight, if we leave all to nature we would not be fairy-like creatures. Because, we are not
built to be fairy-like creatures. We are supposed to create other human beings and that, well needs fat.

You might say "I don't care dating a fatty gorilla!" but's it's not only that, it's not only about feeling pretty, even in america
women to be respected need to be a certain type, to survive, to excel and to triumph. Jobs, opportunities, advancement, respect,
and everything else is given to us thanks to a certain look and ideal.

Men don't have to worry about that, but we do, our survival depends on our looks. Sad but truth.

We hate our legs, our hair, our weight not because we want to do it, but because we have to do it, flaws can change our daily lives
want it or not. Our bodies are complicated, and we must live to the expectations of other's ideals. We are forced by society to do so
Else, we are disrespected and treated poorly.

It's the media's fault. tv, news, magazines and many more social media. They all emphasize these unusually high standards of "beauty" when they show all these women, be it actresses or supermodels, and give so much importance to them. Everything is about "lose weight in 1 week" or showing all these emaciated models in teen vogue and vogue and other magazines directed towards the female gender...

For example, a show that I completely hate is Keeping Up With the Kardashians. My younger sister watches it all the time. And it has no redeeming value whatsoever-- all I hear is how they prioritize their appearance (and clothes) so much that it's absurd!!

Maybe if the media would start focusing on other aspects, perhaps things like the importance of career goals and education's importance, then maybe we'll get more women to deviate from constant worrying about if their bodies do or do not resemble the photoshopped images in magazines--- but I don't see that happening soon.

Ugh. This topic is way too deep to delve into in one night--- and I'm tired as hell... but I would really like it if more girls start worrying less about their bodies (I'm not encouraging an unhealthy lifestyle though-- we should always try to be healthy)

Since every girl, lady and woman IS beautiful to begin with, anyways. That's something they all should know.

And now I'm utterly tired. Good night!

Wow you are very detailed and I wouldn't doubt this...I do want a woman to do all of those things you mentioned as in keeping themselves up and such, yet after all of the treatments, creams and exercise I think she can feel good about herself..when I was 240lbs I felt a little less confident so I lost the weight now I'm 195lb nothing but muscle(it was something I could change), but if it is something in your gene's that wont change or something as small as a little cellulite or pear shape or long arms or whatever it is that she should at least be or at least try to become more confident in front of the guy that doesn't mind it. Because it stresses her out and intern stresses him out that his words kinda don't matter and a relationship can suffer in this situation. You ladies do have a lot to worry about concerning appearence its the small minor or unchangable things I am more focused on in this thread.
