I am sure most of you don't know this, but NASCAR has been airing in Japan on NTV(Nippon Television) since 2004. It is sprint races only though. They have raced in Japan 2-3 times at Twin Rings Motegi and Suzuka. NASCAR has had a few Japanese drivers. Akinori Ogata races in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series, and is the only ACTIVE Japanese NASCAR driver(that I can think of) and Hideo Fukuyama is the only Japanese NASCAR driver to race in the Sprint Cup Series(He raced 4 times in 2 years).

Point of this post? Seeing as NASCAR has raced in several countries, airs in 150, has racing series in 3 countries(US, Mexico, and Canada) and 2 continents(North America and Europe as of 2012) and had a series in Australia for 10 years, it is safe to say NASCAR is NOT an "American sport", but an international sport!

Sounds like you have an extremely short attention span and child-like thought process. Actually, NASCAR is not all oval and for most of it's series does not even race on oval tracks. All you did in your short unintelligent reply was minimize a sport you OBVIOUSLY know nothing about. But it's easy to do it with all sports:

American Football: Running back and forth for an oval ball for 3 hours in a misnamed sport. A sport that even elementary schoolers play.
Basketball: Running back and forth for a round ball for 3 hours just to shoot it in an elevated hoop. Another thing children do everyday!
Golf: Hitting a grounded ball with a stick for days.
Baseball: Hitting a ball with a stick and running in a circle for hours.
Football(Soccar): Running back and forth for a ball just to kick it for 90 minutes without scoring a single goal.

I can go on. You see how idiotically simple minded that sounds(looks)? That is EXACTLY how you looked. Good job!

yea, you could generalize every sport into a 4 word thing, congrats. But i was making a statement of my opinion. Im fully aware theres more to it, i just dont care, just like i dont care about football, baseball, volleyball, drag racing...its a long list. But way to go on acting all defensive like i was taking a direct shot at you, congrats, clearly i have the smaller e-peen, for not feeling the need to take everything as a direct assault against me

So you are on a sports thread but you apparently don't like any form of sports...I get it now!

No, theres plenty I like. I listed the ones i dont like. There more than a hand full of sports. I like how you feel the need to try to talk down to people for voicing their opinion. And the fact that no one else has posted on this clearly means theres a lot of people that arent fans of Nascar. But by all means, keep trying to make me seem like an idiot. It quite amusing because all your doing is making your self look like a moron because u keep trying to label me when the only thing you know is that there are sports I dont like, and nascar is one of them. Great plan.

There are also forum post about the NFL with about the same number of post as me, so people not being fans of NASCAR is likely not the reason this post has gotten view hits in an UNPOPULAR THREAD. And the only one who is making oneself look like a "moron" is the one who minimized a sport he knows nothing about and is claiming he does like sports but has yet to name that sport...you know what that smells like? Buuuuull sheeeeeet(bullshit). It is safe to say this is going to be a repeat issue soooo, I'm going to move on now, pillock.

It's even more disappointing when I thought it might be a thread about the old exhibition races on Japanese courses from the mid/late 90s. Those were always fun to watch, and I wish they still did em.

I prefer formula 1 style racing on the euro tracks mainly because NASCAR is composed of hours of left turns.

It's not a bad sport but it's just not for me, I like a lot of the personalities tho. =P

I don't know how big NASCAR will be to Japanese fans. Its almost the same result when F1 was brought to the states a few years ago and just disappeared because they was not a big enough fan base.

Not to take anyone's side, but I too find NASCAR a bit boring as well. I don't mind seeing some of the NASCAR circuit racing, but the oval tracks i dont pay much attention to. I know most people think its boring to see cars go in circles about 300-500 times, but lets not forgot how much speed is involved on the bank turns. Its the root of american racing and there are millions of fans.

Its like american football vs soccer. Some sports are just loved worldwide and some are just specific in its own demographics.

I'm not going to go deeper into this whole NASCAR bash or why other racing sport is better. I'll leave it how it is.
