My math teacher was talking about math stuff...That I always tune out.

Then he said 'Paradox' and something about halfing and never getting zero if you keep halfing.
Let's say you're walking to an X amount of distance and keep halfing it...
You'll never get to there.
You'll get really close...But theirs always that 0.0000000000001

Just blew my mind!!!

So what blows your mind??

Oh, and if such a thread about blowing peoples minds exists...feel free to delete.

Man, wtf was I on.

That whole thing you just said just blew my mind to bits.
My mind also blows up when I remind myself my mind was blown up a while ago...how am I thinking right now...? =~= But it gets so confusing I just ignore it and keep swimming.

I watched a documentary recently about Mapping the universe and they were showing highly detailed images of various galaxies and what blew my mind is that they can get detailed pictures of galaxies but they can't get detailed pictures of other solar systems within our galaxy which are closer than the other galaxies and that the universe is flat it's infinitely flat in every direction and that would mean that other universes would actually be different dimensions because each galaxy is infinate and it's something the human mind cannot grasp no matter how hard you try.

The universe and its infinity has always blown my mind.

That every atom in my body is working together in a single event called me.

Seriously?

a^m/a^n=a^(m-n)
1=x/x=x^1/x^1=x^(1-1)=x^0

The very moment you realize that any form of communication is just made up sounds and squiggly hand drawn lines from early ancestors who decided what mean't what for the sake of better understanding one another.

I for one, decree that any form or function that the common understanding of what is a "dog" in the English language is now actually going to represent a singular entity that occupies a given space. I also decree that any form or function that the common understanding of what is known as "soda" in the English language is now actually going to represent two entities occupying a given space in close proximity of one another.

Thus I conclude that dog + dog = soda. (Mathematical translation from my newly created language to English: 1+1 = 2).

Congratulations, you've created a new form of communication.

a^m/a^n=a^(m-n)
1=x/x=x^1/x^1=x^(1-1)=x^0

you would think that it works that way, but laws of exponents says it dosn't. thus mind blown.

edit: nm, misread. mind not blown anymore.

my problem is

X^4=x*x*x*x
X^2=x*x
X^0=/=x*0?

fuck math.

that time in middle school when my teacher decided to say that in 5 hundred million years or so .. the possibility of the sun will be a supernova, wiping all other planets including earth, thus the extinction of the human race.

that other time when my teacher told be that if the volcano at yellow-stone park erupts it will be the start of a new "dark age". (but it's a theory)
you know that kinda childhood ruining stuff.

As a Math major, I encounter cool shit like that daily -- usually cooler shit than that, actually. It's a real bummer more people don't study it seriously. Just for fun, I learned this one in my old number theory class -- "proof" that 1=2

1) let a=b
2) ab=b^2
3) ab-a^2=b^2-a^2
4) a(b-a)=(b-a)(b+a)
5) a=b+a
6) a=a+a
7) 1a=2a
8) 1=2

The fact that anything can be 400 million light years long. I mean something so big it takes LIGHT 400 million years to go from one side to the other. 400 million years to go from one side to the other travelling at 671 million miles per hour.

Im talking about the Shapley Super Cluster here.
