Last job I had I was on contract, it ended and didn't get a new one for months now.
I'm always working super hard, giving it my all and keeping a smile on no matter what.

But now looking for work and keep on getting: 'Your resume is great, you are a nice person but we have found someone else, thank you for your time and we'll keep you in mind for future opportunities.'

Now, I just don't know what to do anymore...
keep getting the 'you're nice... but...'

What would you do?

Business is a business, if they meet a person that is not that nicer or entertaining than you but still het would help the business in something you JUST can't they will pick that person.

Business is a business no personal feelings involved, maybe hurt feelings but thats all.

I'm not too sure what I'd do since I've never been in your position. One thing I do know is that you shouldn't dwell on it too much. Try to invest more of your spare time into things you enjoy doing. Stepping a away for a bit is oftentimes the best course of action before making big decisions. Patronising as it sounds, I hope this helps. Good luck.

You've fallen. Pick yourself up and continue to take steps.
There will always be a time in someone's life where they've tried their absolute hardest and have gained nothing, instead they get a slap in the face. You begin to doubt yourself and your abilities because of it. Don't think like that.
You know your strengths and you downfalls already, so don't think any less of yourself. Just keep taking steps forward and keep that smile!
As long as you think positive then there will be no such thing as negative. Don't lose your strength now, you've already gotten so far already.

Best of luck to you! Keep trying.

It took me several interviews to get a job several years ago when I graduated from college. You have to remember with how bad the world economy is right now there is a lot of competition for most jobs available so you really have to standout. If you are are at least getting interviews, then you are doing pretty well.

I botched several interviews from my nerves getting to me as I do not like being evaluated and it makes me say stupid things.

I found that making certain you ask a lot of questions about the atmosphere, how they feel about the company, how the company values employees and such can help you land the job. If they think you are interested in more than just pay, then that will push you higher on their list of candidates to higher.

Don't be so hard on yourself, the job market is intense right now, there's college graduates working mcdonalds jobs. My friend graduated 6 years of college to be a teacher, there's no jobs in her field, she's working at Wendy's until she can find better :/
It's a tough place

Don't give up! When I got out of college, I spent over a year looking for a job. I was checking job sites and applying for things on a daily basis. Most of the time I'd get the "feel good" response back. "We're sorry, your a very qualified candidate, but you're not what we need at this time." So I know how you feel. A couple of things to consider.

First network. Reach out to the people you've worked with in the past, see if they know of any positions opening up. Get as many people as possible looking.

Second, branch out. Don't be afraid of doing a coast to coast job search. It might not be feasible for everybody, but it opens up new opportunities. Also look at jobs that are similar.

When it comes down to the interview. I've found that doing some research before hard helps out. Find out what you can about the company or department before you walk in. Also ask the interviewer or interview comittiee what they're looking for in an applicant. The job announcement will probably list the basic qualifications, but nothing beyond that.

Hang in there and keep trying.

I've been having this problem for quite a while now, my contract ended as well and I've been out of work for about 3 months, with basically the same response to my resume.

Any advice? Well, I don't have a job yet, but I'm doing the most logical thing and that's just to keep going. I keep handing out resumes and I keep trying to get a job. There isn't much else to do

All you can do like everyone is saying is keep trying.
Try different techniques in presenting yourself, focus your resume on just the field of where your applying, tweak a couple things here and there. Try not being the nice person and put up a front thats more stern and serious possibly. Just a couple suggestions hopefully these will help you in some sort of way

Try a temp agency, I get job offers weekly from them in all types of fields. I also get many requests from having a profile on monster.com. Craigslist is also a great place to find leads.

I got fired a month and a half ago and I'm looking around, not in a rush because it's like being on vacation and I know that I will eventually find a job that I like. Just keep that in mind, that you will find one. Somewhere along the line, you will get hired, until then, enjoy life as much as you can.

Keep trying and never give up. I've lost my job many times, felt like I was kicked down, but I bounce back on my feet.
