At college my Internet connect be slow at times. What many people would do is pause the video and wait a few minutes for the buffer to fill up a bit before continuing watching their video without intterruption.

However, I have noticed that chrunyroll doesn't really support buffering outside a few seconds. Keeping a video paused for like an hour means nothing to it. So even at SD quality, the video will play for a seconds, stop for a minute, start again, and repeat. Sometimes I have to even reload the whole page just for it to start again period.

Have you tried changing your DNS server? It might help on your issue:

Regarding your question, due to license and such the buffer is almost non-existent. BasouKazuma or Bjaker can probably provide you with more details, if you want.

There's a bunch of different issues here, but let's start where we can.

Try the following first:

I would check to make sure that the drivers for your graphics card are up to date.
Shut down any unnecessary programs when you watch videos on our site.
Right click on the Flash Player and go to settings, make sure Hardware Acceleration is enabled and that you have updated Local Storage to Unlimited.

I was excited to watch HQ anime since I just got my subscription today. I'm upset now and kinda regretting getting a subscription now. I can't even watch anime at 480p with out it stopping every 20 seconds. I get better buffering from free anime sites :/

Technically you don't get any from them, since they don't host their own videos.

Either way, it still sucks that I can't watched any video at even 480p :/ I'm basically forced to watch Standard Definition on-the-go.

What about your phone? Do you have a phone that has 4G service? You can get the iPhone/Android app, in that case.
I understand it's not very convienient though... you can also get a Roku, they're relatively inexpensive and should give you no video problems! (Though afaik anime is stuck at 480-- still looks good to me :))

i dont understand why cr cant implement a decent buffer mechanism in the player

it would seriously help those with slow internet connection to pre load the video

a DNS change or adblock change wouldent help since its a slow internet connection that causes this
and even if it did get routed wrong then why not have people buffer

seriously CR u need better BUFFER support!

It's part of an intentional anti-piracy measure. It doesn't necessary work very well, but it's important for the Japanese licensors in order for CR to be able to show many of the series that they do.

well even if its part of an anti-piracy measure not being able to let a video even load is just going to make people go towards piracy as they wont even be able to load a full video a watch it. im trying to watch my shows on Sd cause i cant go any higher and i still got to wait for it to load each 10 mins. if crunyroll is going to get the rights to stream them atleast allow preim users not to have to deal with dam buffering issues

Japaniese laws for anime are really stuiped if people are wanting to pay $$ for the service they should get the hole services an not just slow buffering for people who dont have top notch internet speed (What is even the dam point of 1080p) if you cant even load above SD.

im kind of wondering what internet people use these days.. Mine is like 30 dollars a month, I can download a torrent have youtube up with 3 other tabs and still watch at 720 or 1080p, occasionally I get stuck part way through videos, I just refresh. this computer is only 1.9 GHz with i3, actually slower than my old one, just has more storage.

I'm on cable internet and have frequent issues with playback stopping and starting that would be easily solved by a correct buffering implementation as well. It's great that you are lucky enough to have a good internet connection, but that is just luck. Many people live in places where there is only one option and that one option has a shared bandwidth limit across a number of houses in the neighborhood, like cable internet does. Letting a watcher pause and having the player load a little bit of the video into memory so it has less stalls after is a very basic internet video streaming technology that was in the YouTube player over a decade ago, so what people are asking for is not even odd. It's more odd that it doesn't exist here.
