Should just release them all at once and watch your members run around in joy. I am curious why you are so quick to assume Crunchyroll is the one behind that release schedule, and not Aniplex USA. Keep in mind with the previous Aniplex USA releases (i.e., Star Driver, Oreimo), the releases were also once per week, not only on CR, but Hulu and Crackle as well (and Crackle is another Sony company, like Aniplex). |

Oh well, I already watched it anyway. |

I am sorely disappointed that it's in 480p.
I'll be waiting for my BD's to watch this show. Edit: Sorry to be a complainer, it's just that I was really excited to watch this today and Aniplex has put Durarara, Makoka Magica, Nisemonogatari, and Blue Exorcist all up in HD. I assumed Bakemonogatari would be the same, and am very sad to find differently. I'm fussy and won't watch something in SD if it exists in HD. I'll happily eat my words if it gets upgraded to 720p at some point. |

Yes, CR it totally responsible for this, despite the fact it was provided to them by Aniplex USA, who oddly enough, themselves only has the rights for the U.S. and Canada. I guess CR should have passed on it to make people outside these two countries feel better. Meanwhile, we in the U.S. could have still have watched it on Hulu (while Canada would have gotten screwed over in the process). Per the Aniplex USA website: Streaming on Crunchyroll and Hulu, First Episode Premiere this Friday, September 14th! New Episodes added every Friday! I'm surprised Crackle (which would have opened availability to those in Canada if CR was out of the picture) was omitted, given that it is another Sony company. If it makes you feel any better, it is only in 480p (or at least that is the best the first episode currently makes available). |

Yeah, CR are responsible for this. When they established the .co.uk site they promised to make sure they got as many titles as they could and provide an equal service. Right now US/Canda get a MUCH better service for exactly the same money and, frankly, it's disgusting. I know the rights issues are complex but they should be actively chasing rights for the UK (etc) rather than going "well yeah, our core market got these so screw the rest of the world".

So I'll ask you: Should CR have passed on this simply to make people in other countries feel better? Really, what would you have them do? Criticism without a solution is just complaining. If you think lowering the price is the solution, rather than repeat myself, I'll just refer you to this message. If you can suggest a solution that actually works, I expect CR will be glad to listen. |

Yes, but not for any petty reason about fairness. There are plenty of catalogue series which everyone outside North America does not have; they should be spending their time and money on acquiring those series first then start picking up new ones like this AFTER they've done so. If they want to grow their market share in other nations – diversifying their customer base and revenue stream – then they have to support us.
I'll be honest with you; if I had a choice other than CR I'd be using it. But I don't, and I don't like to support fansubs. I love anime, I want to support the industry and I have the money to do so. I have no issue paying the same money for less of a service provided they are at least TRYING to make it equal over the long term. We got really shafted in the summer season and it left a bitter taste in my mouth, especially after the promises CR made to UK fan sites when they launched the UK side. The very least they could do for us now is go back and fill in a few old series gaps, rather than giving us the finger by offering US/CA even more value for money. We, outside the US, are clearly not important customers for them... which is madness. Sure, there are a lot more of you paying subs right now but let me tell you this - the rest of the world outnumbers the US by a good old margin, and if they offered a more complete service I'm pretty sure they'd see a more equal return from us in the long run. |
