I hope crunchy's sub is good enough. This is a very dialog driven brilliant brain candy type of anime.

please please please please... PUT *US/CA ONLY* in the title of these things when its not for everyone. nothing is more disapointing than clicking thinking "oooo new anime to watch" to only find out you cant watch it.

On a side note nice ot know your still adding more anime, just a same nearly all you added of late is locked to US/CA.

Nice that we non-US premium members shall be paying for so many new releases to the non-paying users in the USA.. One would think priority would be focused to those paying not only to the leachers in a very narrow region..

COULD WE GET SOME STATISTICS ON PAYING MEMBERS PER COUNTRY/REGION COMPARED TO THE AVAILABLE MATERIAL.

These are catalog titles and a lot of the most recent announcements have come from Aniplex or Sentai Filmworks. Aniplex USA only operates in U.S and Canada so anything that they sublicense to Crunchyroll tends to be limited to those regions. And these library titles from Sentai were likely done when Sentai was only looking at the U.S and Canada(when they simulcast with CR now, they at least do "Major English speaking countries").

I suspect that with the Fall simulcasts, we'll see a good variety of widely available series.(the more popular ones will very likely be more limited in availability though)

Unless it is a simulcast, it would be safer to presume first that titles are US/Canada only, due to the sources they are typically attained from. The last time I recall library titles not being exclusive to those two countries was with the block of titles acquired from Kadokawa back in the latter part of 2010.

UPDATE:

As a pre-warning, here is another one that fits the pattern:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2012/09/17/crunchyroll-adds-ef-a-tale-of-memories-anime

It is from Sentai's existing library, so once again it is a case of the rights for anything beyond the U.S. and Canada simply not being there to be re-licensed to CR.

Unless things have changed drastically in the past couple of years, the number of U.S. premium members would outnumber those in all other countries combined. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if the situation had become even more imbalanced.

Based on what Funimation has stated in the past, streaming for free to U.S. and Canada viewers isn't that profitable, and is typically little above break even, but they didn't indicate that it lost money. Given that, it is very doubtful that international premium members are in any way subsidizing free viewers in the United States and Canada.

What is possible is that you are subsidizing free viewers in your region to a certain extent. One evidence of this is the move by CR in the past few seasons to make some content available world wide only to premium members, and available to free viewers only in more limited regions (likely the ones where they can sell sufficient advertising to have a hope of covering the costs).

Hooray for Bake but seriously Aniplex? What's up with the horrible subs? I can *sometimes* stand a lack of honorifics, but annotations to go along with them when you do put them in there? Really? And they're hard subs too >_> It'd be nice if they changed their subs format for Bake or at the least provided Crunchy with soft subs (though I still can't really watch raws, wouldn't really matter though as I've already seen this show once) Anyways keep on getting these awesome licenses Crunchy! Thanks!

Moyashimon season 1 - 11 days ago.
If you say that it was obvious that that would be available as it was the prequel of something already on CR, then the same could be said for Bakemonogatari, but we don't get that.

I'm sure there are reasons for it, but still... It's frustrating.

The timing of when it was announced (rather than when it was made available) and identical region licenses would give a strong indication that Moyashimon! was part of the original contract negotiations for the second series. In contrast, Bakemonogatari was announced long after Nisemonogatari had completed, and shortly after Aniplex USA had made it known they had decided to stream the series.

One of the few times I can recall CR getting a prequel series well after the fact for the U.S. and Canada only, and then later going back and getting expanded regions, was with Hayate no Gotoku!. (The second series was simulcast in spring 2009, and the first series was not aquired until August 2010).

Is it possible such a thing could happen with Bakemonogatari? Yes, but I wouldn't count on it. When the rights for the U.S. and Canada are already in hand, it makes it very dicey economically to commit to contract costs for only other countries for a series. It probably didn't hurt that Hayate no Gotoku! was a TV Tokyo series.

So many shows that I want to watch I can't watch. This is so lame. Why do I pay for a premium membership if all the good shows aren't even included. I'm cancelling my subscription,

Not for Australia? :(

Makes me sad that because of where I'm located, I'm limited to only watch a small section of the amazing anime collection CR has. I've come across a couple of anime which looks interesting but when I click to go watch it, it tells me that it's not available for my region.

It just makes it less 'value for money' compared to the US/Canada premium members. I know that it can be difficult to get licensing rights to different countries, but it is frustrating to see that we're paying the same amount of money and yet we don't have (in a way) full access to what CR has to offer.

Crunchyroll tries to get as many licenses as possible as soon as they can, because they will be able to earn more money sooner. If there are any delays or restrictions, it is due to the license holder, The Aniplex guy at a convention said that Bakemonogatari was held by Kodansha in Japan, whereas the Nisemonogatari license was held by Aniplex. This was why Niseimonogatari streamed to the USA sooner. Kodansha did not want to license it to the USA since they had to sell DVDs and BDs first. After a year, they allowed Aniplex to obtain the license to the US. The result is what you see on Crunchyroll and Crackle, as well as the $150 BD Box set coming Nov 20.
