Okay
Since I've noticed that the convention section of forums is quite slow,I'm posting this here..
My friend invited me to go to Montreal's comiccon this weekend..I thought, well, why not, we've got the lift and everything .. However, being more of an anime fan,I was wondering if it would be a bit boring ? I took a look at the schedule and it seems like it's mostly about autographs and comics/Bd panels and screenings..

I was just wondering what basically goes on at a comiccon?? Are there some weird out of subject activities like there are at anime cons( blind dancing, chance games, ect) ??

If for one second you considered this then you shouldn't be going at all.

LOL funny how no one has even bothered to answer the persons questions. I would answer but I don't know the answer as I have only been to anime conventions and not the comic ones (though I probably will eventually). So someone please answer this persons questions instead of making useless commentary...

It's totally worth going to!!! Go for the atmosphere and festivities if nothing else. I'm not a big comic fan myself but to see so many people in place who share the same interests and hobby makes me warm and fuzzy on the inside. It's like a big family reunion!

Atlanta, GA just had DragonCon over Labor Day weekend and it was a blast! Anime Weekend Atlanta in two weeks

Not going? you get no point here..I was just wondering if a comiccon could be interesting for someone who is much more interested in anime, mangas and japanese comics than american style comics..

DesidusRyke ~Thanks for pointing that out :)

it's like me going to a car show. you pay 100 to get in and well all you see is cars and models. there's nothing there except that and $10 hotdogs. you just go there for the joy of it with your friends or meet new people. it's a event! something un- normal

Yeah, I guess my main question should have been :what's going on at comic cons?? There are a whole lot of activities that are not even related to japanese culture or anime/mangas.. I was wondering if comic cons were a bit similar... Seeing the schedule it doesn't seem to at all, wich is why I've made this topic We might go to chinatown if we ever get bored since it's right next to the con center so..yah

I love the comic cons. You get to see trailers and clips of new shows, get signatures with the voice actors and even buy products that won't be out for months.

I even got to meet Geof and Gavin from RoosterTeeth, have their signatures and photo with them.

Ultimately it depends on which guests are going, what new games they are showcasing, what anime/manga/tv/films you like, if you like cosplay/dressing up as a character from something you enjoy (you don't have to if it's not your cup of tea).

I like going for the fact there's so much there, buy Insert coin clothing tees (fabulous gaming t-shirts/hoodies) or the latest mangas/animes as well as meeting the voices behind my favourite characters.

The only problem I have ever had was people jumping the queue for signing, which resulted in most people not getting a signature and them cutting it short, despite people queuing over an hour and half, with no staff monitoring it.

The other thing I enjoy, is meeting so many fellow fans. Especially for me cos I don't have many close friends who like the things I like.

At the end of the day, it's an experience you won't forget. You'll either love every experience and want to do it again every year/twice a year for some places, or you'll choose not to go again. If you do decide to go, I hope you have a fantastic time and maybe find something you already love & possibly love something new there too.
