Sports Anime: Love or Hate

I used to watch other football anime dubbed in my native language, but I don't know their original Japanese names. I really hated Area no Kishi, and I want to give Inazuma Eleven a shot. That tells me you're either Spanish or Latin American. And Captain Tsubasa is the reason why I got into football. So I understand that very well. I used to have a Captain Tsubasa forum, but I gave it away because it was too time-consuming. I may have other series I favor now, but CT will always have a special place in my heart. Actually I'm from Kuwait. Captain Tsubasa is still really popular in the Arab world. I still see re-runs on TV from time to time, now I study in the US so Youtube is my only option if I want to re-watch the series. I still play CT video games on PS1 and PS2. |

Awesome! If I recall correctly, it's called Captain Majid over there.
I'm Latin American, and this is the place where the greater fandom is. Sorry for the mixup |

Kuorko's Basketball mannn!!!! WHat I could do in real life with Aomine's skills wooo. Not even the people me and my team played are like these for obvious reasons because it isn't real but damn. Eyeshield was alright but I'm a Basketball fan so Kuroko's Basketball all the way. Hope they make a season 2.

for me, any genre is a hit or miss though i tend not to give sports anime the time of day 'cause sports as a whole don't interest me. BUT there are very few that slip through the cracks (aka i was bored as hell).
my faves are prince of tennis (i believe the very first sports anime i watched) kuroko's basketball knight in the area and i think that's it for right now lol i've tried some others that people just go on and on about how good they are but i usually get bored half-way through the first episode :p hmm, can air gear be considered one? |

One of my favourite genres
I used to hate sport when I was younger, till I realised not all sports are ball sports. Although I don't like playing ball sports I still enjoy anime like Cross Game, Captain Tsubasa, PoT, Kuroko etc. What makes them appealing is the concept of having a goal and working toward it, at least in my opinion. A few of my faves are Hikaru no Go, Touch, Ookiku Furikabutte, and Chihayafuru.Sports manga (and hence anime) was first popularised as a big genre by Jump - they made a survey asking their target readers to pick three words from a list that were most important to them - the results had the top three words as friendship, effort and winning - basically epitomised in the sport genre. If you really think about it, those are the parts of sport manga/anime that make them so easy to get into. |

i think you'll love or hate the anime because of its story, not just because its related to sports or not.
i generally like anime that deals with love, friendship and being courageous, but i like Slamdunk - it has a heart and makes you relax. |

Love Eyeshield 21
but I think prince of tennis is complete garbage Like Baby Steps, so it's not because it's Tennis I don't like prince It's a very love it or hate it genre both for the genre as a whole as well as different ones within it |

I liked Captain Tsubasa when I was little (also, I watched it in Spanish. I was trying to get practice because I was taking it in school. . . . .eh, it helped a little, but they talked so fast) and I loved Giant Killing I'm a soccer fan though, so of course I did. That said, One Outs sounds awesome. I wanna see it. |

IT SHOULD'VE BEEN YOKO!

Watched Eyeshield 21 completely by chance and totally loved it (ironic, because I'm English and despise American Football on principle!), although it hasn't tempted to try out more sports anime...should I?
